Need some help. I called the VPC for my vehicle transport and I can't ship my R comps with my vehicle.

I'm interested in shipping the SSR's with R comps and some other small car parts right after Auto-x on the 30th so they will be home when I get there. W

What are some of the best shipping/freight places (cheapest) to get my goods back to IL?

thanks for your help

IMO, it may not be worth the shipping costs of the extra weight of the used R-Comps.

Used R-Comps are fine for autox, but could be a recipie for disaster on a road course.

Just my $0.02

Exactly! Shipping a set of wheels and tires will cost you dearly, especially with your timeframe. I'd guess shipping will run @ $500. For that kind of money, you could sell the rims and tires and apply the shipping money to a new set back home.

I agree. I was going to get some volks (for the Z) but the shipping killed the deal. $550 (wheels/tires) from cali!!!

Cal and everyone shipping to and fro the mainland,

I have been talking with H2O Logistics about some larger items. They are reasonable and easy to work with. I have a set of four DS II wheels coming from LA. The seller is dropping off the wheels at H2O's location which must be close to Long Beach.

$100 delivered to my door. Four wheels. The ocean freight is $3.76/cu. ft.. Add a local fee which varies on location. FedEx or UPS was going to be ~$300 at best.

I also have a baby six being shipped to me from the midwest. I don't have a complete quote, but the fee from the west coast to Upcountry Maui is going to be less than $300. The mainland freight sounds like it may be another $300.

I don't know if shipping to the mainland has different rates... let us know if you call. But do give H2O a shot and tell Mike that I (Scott on Maui) sent you.

those rates sound very resonable.

those rates sound very resonable.

Got some updates on the actual costs vs quotes.

The four wheels, boxed were a bit smaller than anticipated. Shipped from H2O's warehouse in Gardena, CA to my house in Kihei. $84.

OTOH, the fee went up for the engine and several boxes of parts on a pallet, plus a separately boxed midpipe and catback.

Being an engine and not a lump of coal, it was 'classed' higher in order to be covered by insurance which raises the ground shipping rate... so total from Chicago to Kula, Maui $775. Still reasonable.

Calvin, were they able to do you any good?

scott, thanks for the heads up on H20.. I did contact them and unfortunately they didnt have anything soon enough heading BACK to the states. They ship plenty to the islands, just not back

Ended up going with Fedex. Was able to ship 2 of the rims/tires with the M3 via matson as snow tires, and then I shipped the other 2 rims/tires and the extra NIB SSR rim via Fedex.

for the 3 rims/2 tires, cost me $240... not as bad as I thought. $80 for each rim/tire combo at 43lbs a piece, and $50 for the rim at 21lbs. The extra $30 comes from the insurance on each, and the taxes. They will be there by mid next week (5-7 working days)

And the crappy part is, the shipping co says they cannot be held responsible for missing items, since the items are not physically attached to the car.

99MPower

i know, I had to risk it a little bit, buts its part of the inventory in the car, so I still have records that they were in the car
