Where is everyone? Jed 03-13-2008, 06:29 PM Still standing here in the aforementioned getup. lax01 03-13-2008, 06:39 PM Posting on your official BMW cell phone? Andy 03-13-2008, 08:08 PM Not if they are making people pay $5-8....pay for it all or don't pay at all is my motto Oh, there's a cover. Nevermind. I can't afford that. :( *searching ebay for BMW socks* 1996BMW328I 03-13-2008, 08:29 PM Not if they are making people pay $5-8....pay for it all or don't pay at all is my motto You should be thankful in how much the NCCBMWCCA already pays for these social events. I'm looking at the yearly budget and it a disgusting amount. The Man 03-13-2008, 08:46 PM lol I hope someone actually showed up so Jed isn't just standing there in his BMW posser-ness. Jed 03-13-2008, 09:20 PM Guys. Still standing here. Right next to the black E92. Yep. It's getting cold... oh, so cold...Where is everyone? lax01 03-14-2008, 10:35 AM You should be thankful in how much the NCCBMWCCA already pays for these social events. I'm looking at the yearly budget and it a disgusting amount. Well then it should be members only...no guests or wives... I also don't like sitting down to a formal dinner...the setup at Zodiac works so much better so that you can order when you want and leave when you want... SpeedTheory 03-14-2008, 12:43 PM Last night was barely a social. I don't like the concept of a whole bunch of people just showing up and eating on the CCA's tab (which we all pay into), bringing kids, who are eating on the CCAs tab, bringing wives, who are eating on the CCAs tab, then asking everyone else to chip in for THEIR meals. It was the least social environment possible. The ones at Zodiac & especially the Greene Turtle have been infinitely better. sKunkman 03-14-2008, 03:20 PM The food was great, too bad it took us two hours to get there with traffic :( lax01 03-14-2008, 04:29 PM Last night was barely a social. If you want to put a limit on what you can buy, do that. So say you get $20 of NCC money and anything after that you pay for. None of this communist throw in your money and pay for everyone else bullshit if you just get a coke Jed 03-14-2008, 04:39 PM What about like an NCC meet/photoshoot followed by NCC street raceZ? Jed 03-14-2008, 04:50 PM I am still surprised you guys didn't see me there. I parked near a montego blue 335i http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=126135 SpeedTheory 03-14-2008, 04:57 PM The actual money spent has nothing to do with it. I wouldn't have any problem paying my own way for everything. The problem comes when my dues/chip-in is going to people who aren't paying CCA dues in the first place. 1996BMW328I 03-15-2008, 07:19 AM agreed....we should do some a pool hall (or strip club) or something like that where its not a formal sit down. Why not write a letter and I'll present it at the next board meeting? That's the only way you're going to get a change. You can email me at jmthayer@gmail.com. Hey SpeedTheory, do the same ... (p.s. Have you found a replacement car yet?) Jackcat559 03-15-2008, 10:34 AM Never been to the other meets. They are a little far to travel to during the week. $5-10 isn't a lot for a decent meal, and conversation with like minded people. Hell Royal Farm runs that. Plus there is always been a car I've never seen before in person. Thursday was a good example with the new M3, the original M5, Z3 coupe, couple Z4's, e24 euro spec... Hell Royal Farm runs that. Plus there is always been a car I've never seen before in person. Thursday was a good example with the new M3, the original M5, Z3 coupe, couple Z4's, e24 euro spec... I'm not saying it is a lot. It isn't, and like I said, I wouldn't have any problem paying the FULL price for my own meal. Most company socials that I've attended before utilize a policy where the members are free, and guests/spouses pay. My issue has nothing to do with how much I'm spending, it has to do with where my money is going. I'm not paying my yearly dues to watch a guy bring his kids for a free dinner (true story). We could save a LARGE amount of money by ensuring that this didn't happen in the future. I enjoy every event that the NCC puts on, and I don't want people taking advantage of their willingness to provide for a free meal by bringing the whole clan along, at the expense of DIY days (now paying for DIY days with the Chapter), autocross budget, Driver's Schools (First Coast Chapter charges $150 for an 8-session weekend @ Roebling Road for their members.....ours at Summit, which is nowhere near as nice of a facility, cost more than double that.) EDIT: John, let me know when the next Board Meeting is. I know I missed one earlier this week, but I hate seeing the club's money going to waste like this, and I'd be happy to speak about it at the next one I'm in town for. lax01 03-15-2008, 11:38 AM meh I don't care that much :D Andy 03-15-2008, 12:02 PM Man, I didn't know all this. I owe my co-worker a dinner. Looks like I will be attending the next Columbia social with some company!:buttrock SpeedTheory 03-15-2008, 02:13 PM Man, I didn't know all this. It made the guy with the RS4 look SUPER COOL! Jackcat559 03-15-2008, 08:29 PM OK, I see your point. I did bring my wife once because I thought she would enjoy it. She was bored to tears like most wives. They politely interact and look like they don't want to be there. Learned my lesson. Got her an associate membership just incase though. 1996BMW328I 03-16-2008, 08:01 AM I'm not saying it is a lot. I actually have to completely disagree. A good majority of the people who attend these events have been CCA members for twice or even 10 times longer than you have. Also, don't count out the fact that most spouses are associate members. I know Steve and other members have brought their wives/children to socials before and regularly go on the popular overnight weekend tours even with their kids. FYI, if we are auditing everyone now, Steve gave at least $20 for his and his kids' dinner which was definitely more than necessary. The socials we originally held a few years ago had a younger crowd in a more relaxed, barlike setting. Those who have taken charge of the program have done a fantastic job accommodating the people who regularly attend the socials in the past year which just so happens to be an older and family-oriented crowd. The discussions are still BMW related, but the socials have seemed to shift to more of a sit-down exquisite dinner with the photo sessions before/after the dinner. Although not my cup of tea, I have no problems with that because it promotes the club and keeps the members satisfied. I always thought the whole goal of the club was to recruit, to keep, and to satisfy all the members? Not everyone has the same interests, but this program has been and will continue to remain extremely popular. I do get a little agitated when I have just a beer and sandwich ~$10 while some others are spending $40+ per person on their meals/drinks and am asked to give the same amount as them, but I really don't care because I get to talk cars, see friends, and not cook one/two nights per month. We (or our parents) all own BMWs, what's a few bucks? |
