View Full Version : i like my wheels
tonyroc14 03-13-2008, 01:19 AM Im asking for an honest, but non-biased opinion of my wheels and how they look on the car.:cool

erik024 03-13-2008, 01:23 AM I don't think they look bad, but I also don't think they amazing. The size of them fits the car well, if they were smaller than what you had I think it would look goofy. But that's just me.
Sam Son 03-13-2008, 01:23 AM like shit.....honest
tonyroc14 03-13-2008, 01:24 AM like shit.....honest
lol.but is that un-biased? but i kinda like them:redspot
Binjammin 03-13-2008, 01:27 AM Well, for starters, who's going to answer if I call the phone # in the back window? Second, are those even multi-piece wheels, or are they fakes? I'm guessing fakes. I really hate it when I see extra nuts and bolts on wheels that just don't need to be there. I don't know if it's common knowledge or not, but I'm not exactly a wheel whore, so I'll give you an honest opinion: they look urban. Lived in Boston for a long time, and those are the types of wheels you see guys get when they get their first decent job (or sell drugs). Save up for a few weeks, buy a car. Save up again and buy wheels. Never spend a dime on the car again to keep it running, but the wheels are always clean.
In short, they're not classy wheels, they're flashy wheels, meant to show that you've made it one more step up the ladder in status.
Ditch 'em. And I mean that literally, throw them in a ditch.
They're not bad... but i wouldn't roll 'em.
If you're selling your car, you're better off putting stocks on... wider market for stock car.
offthewall 03-13-2008, 01:32 AM i like the finish. but the design is CRAP. what a wasted of metal.
series88 03-13-2008, 01:33 AM change the wheels, and take out the chrome door handles. itl make it much better. im sure your gonna edit your thread and say i like my car better
tonyroc14 03-13-2008, 01:34 AM lol. Well i cant afford getting new ones, so ill have to grow to like them. There fake multi piece. They fit the car well, and they dont look half bad. I can get the stockers tho, so ill get those and see how they look
tonyroc14 03-13-2008, 01:35 AM change the wheels, and take out the chrome door handles. itl make it much better. im sure your gonna edit your thread and say i like my car better
go check a few threads back "chrome handle delete" i took those off today, jsut didnt have a picture of the wheels.
tonyroc14 03-13-2008, 01:35 AM Well, for starters, who's going to answer if I call the phone # in the back window?
idk, call it
tonyroc14 03-13-2008, 01:37 AM http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=957375
chrome handle delete, i just need to clean up the handles a little more.
IamCatman 03-13-2008, 01:38 AM Look too ghetto ....plus those 'off brand' tires make me kind of wonder about the rest of the car.

cars not in perfect condition, the guy who owned it before me didnt appreciate it. Once i fix the suspension im getting new tires. Michilen pilots anyone?:redspot
Erick 03-13-2008, 01:58 AM those look nice on a r34 4door skyline as seen in D1 GP
4500 RPM 03-13-2008, 02:16 AM The wheels are awful. If you want to fool yourself into liking them then go for it...
SC David 03-13-2008, 02:35 AM You should find a set of RD wheels to compliment your kit. They can be found for not too expensive.
You should find a set of RD wheels to compliment your kit. They can be found for not too expensive.
sucks though, cuz it's not the full kit. He doesn't have the front piece..:confused
sfgearhead 03-13-2008, 12:12 PM the amount of insecurity and group-think on this board amazes me sometimes. :rolleyes who cares what others think about the wheels. do you like them? yes? great, keep them! if not, sell them.
moooooo, look out, herd coming through, mooooooo......
attack eagle 03-13-2008, 01:03 PM They look very common, very 'rent a tire'... I've seen those same wheels (or another off-brand clone) on everything from escorts to minitrucks to suvs).
those azevs would be nice... I wish i could afford to pick them up.
SMRTASS 03-13-2008, 01:06 PM The wheels are awful.
+1
Goathumper 03-13-2008, 02:04 PM they would look better with rotors to fill them... then you also have an excuse to keep the larger wheels
robmpulse 03-13-2008, 02:04 PM Is This Your First Set Of Rims? Maybe You Are Blinded By The Simple Fact That You Finally Got Rims......
It Happens......
E34nication 03-13-2008, 02:09 PM Honestly.. don't like them. Remind me of a run-of-the-mill Konig Monsoon type wheel that you see on every pimped out accord on the road. That being said... I wouldn't even have put those on my Acura TL...
sorry if a bit harsh.
zubbie 03-13-2008, 02:43 PM Bat-mobile wheels.....:stickoutt
http://www.barris.com/gallery_cars/TV_MovieCars/images/gallery/batmobile.jpg
slocar 03-13-2008, 02:50 PM Honestly ... they're not that bad ... I've seen a lot worse.
What I would do with them: get spacers (for the back at least), paint the centers nogaro silver, leave the lip polished ... they would look 20x better.
5mall5nail5 03-13-2008, 02:55 PM I have a stomach ache
5271990 03-13-2008, 02:57 PM They wouldn't look bad if there were bigger rotors behind them and the suspension was dropped.
The rear offset looks a little odd to me :dunno
Sam Son 03-13-2008, 04:40 PM lol.but is that un-biased? but i kinda like them:redspot
well Im not sure what you mean by unbiased I like lots of different wheels just not those
lilxyoshi 03-13-2008, 04:41 PM they're...nice
but they dont belong on an e34

+1 Its your car, do what you want with them.
Jcbe34 03-13-2008, 05:25 PM Way too generic design.. I've seen those on many different cars.
daflameking 03-13-2008, 05:48 PM they're...nice
but they dont belong on an e34
ditto. those are some nice rims, but not for an e34. maybe an american car or import tuner but these e34 are too classy to have those rims. it just throws off the balance. the rims scream "OMG BLING!" but the car says "im a fast classic luxury bmw model"
iunno.
Binjammin 03-13-2008, 05:56 PM For everyone crying moo, and for OP, I'd just like to point out that he DID ask for opinions. This is an opinion thread. He's not showing them off, saying here's my new wheels, look at them. He's saying "please open your precious little hearts and share your feelings with me".
So far as the mooing goes, that's funny, but I'd say the masses have spoken. I think even angel eyes are a more divisive subject.

And as for the wheels, I'll moo along with the crowd and say they're ghetto and don't belong on an E34.
e24mpwr 03-13-2008, 06:44 PM They'd come off immediately for me - I would donate blood and other bodily fluids to pay for replacements if money was a problem. Apologies for being blunt, but I'm not a fan of the wheels or the chromed door handles.
If they make you happy, you should keep them. A lot of people I know think I'm crazy for trading in my M3 for a 20+ year old M635 (I also canceled my euro-delivery 330i PP for it), but the car makes me smile every time I look at it and every time I drive it.

A perfect example of two things. Not caring about what people think about your car, and not asking others what they think of your car. FYI, I think 635s rock, but then I've seen the 666 car in person.
tonyroc14 03-13-2008, 06:56 PM I only asked for opinions, these are not the wheels i would have chosen. The only reason im forcing myself to like them is becuase im gonna have to live with them for a while. Think of it this way, what would you rather replace first? 1) the wheels or, 2) the tie rod ends, struts, shocks and bushings?
I believe im making the proper decision by going for the tie rods ends and suspension components. Also, for the ppl who still insist on commenting on the chrome door handles, maybe you should read the whole post first. And a last thing, i am picking up the stock wheels for this car, so i might be able to restore this car to is former beauty.
RD wheels, not a big fan of them, i like the throwing stars, style 32's and the mp's
thanks for the imput.
PCP JR 03-13-2008, 07:12 PM Think of it this way, what would you rather replace first? 1) the wheels or, 2) the tie rod ends, struts, shocks and bushings?
how bad are the items in 2)?
if they're still usable, I'd change 1) first.
:D
tonyroc14 03-13-2008, 07:15 PM lol. tie rod ends are f****d, and the bushings seem pretty bad, any one have a picture of what the bushings look like when they absolutley have to go? Also. i think the thrust arm bushings are wore, slight vibration at around 50-60 mph.
the struts and shocks are just weak, not completey fuged yet
Binjammin 03-13-2008, 07:20 PM Well, if you don't replace the suspension parts, nobody will be able to see you driving around with those wheels :D
tonyroc14 03-13-2008, 07:22 PM lol. well the problem here is, the guy who sold it to me said he can give me the origanl wheels, but they have bad tires. So instead of taking the origanals and putting tires on them, im just gonna save up, and pick up some nice wheels. Someone wanna photoshop ne some mp's?
Binjammin 03-13-2008, 07:24 PM Me? I've got photoshop skills that are inversely indexed to my mechanical skills.
PCP JR 03-13-2008, 07:24 PM I know, take your car to 5er Fest and ask those folks...
...but then they may reconsider the decision to invite/allow E34s, so on second thoughts, keep them in your 'hood.
:stickoutt
Good luck with whatever happens. If they're merely temporary, you don't need to make yourself like them.
tonyroc14 03-13-2008, 07:27 PM yea, but i like the wheels, just not on this car. Anyways, off to work, peace out
p.s. im not ganster
lilxedith 03-13-2008, 07:48 PM it just doesnt fit the car =/
Truly unbiased.... They just do not work with the car's classic look. Maybe on some every day junk import, but not the classic lines of an e34.
eightynine535 03-13-2008, 07:54 PM lower the car. it will look MUCH better.
shelbyz4u2nv 03-13-2008, 07:55 PM if your worried about spending money on wheels, you can always buy a set of rep m-pars which are quite cheap.

prash 03-13-2008, 09:47 PM as long as you're happy with them nothing else matters.
personally, i don't like them. they don't compliment the car in anyway.
sachmo12345 03-13-2008, 10:12 PM They look decent in the first picture but I really don't like them in the third picture. I dont like wheels where the spokes angle into the lip.

I don't care about anything other than big caliper fitment. If they're reps and cheap and fit? I'm a happy guy. I'm like the anti-wheel whore. I'm wheel-chaste.

Don't even look at other wheels. Worry about fixing the car first. I see too many cars that look good in a junk yard because nobody maintains them. Wise up before something you cannot afford breaks.
tonyroc14 03-14-2008, 12:11 AM i know, im just doing research.
i know, im just doing research.
I understand, I'm just warning because I have made the same mistake. No matter how hard you try, you'll find something unnecessary that you absolutely must have. Then something will break.
I bought a bike, then my 3 shit out on me.
tonyroc14 03-14-2008, 12:18 AM well i do believe that wheels are a must, as these one probably arent doing any good for the car. But if i cant wait i can just get the origanl wheels, and those wont hurt the car cuz thats why the damn thing came with. Im fixing my suspension on saturday, and i cant wait
MCOrange 03-14-2008, 12:39 AM I think wheels with straight lines and such in the design fit the E34 much better because the car has a boxy look to it.
tonyroc14 03-14-2008, 12:59 AM i think my wheels look good from certian angels
