Hey Everyone,

I started my vf sc install, and im at a point of no return! The problem is my ecu isnt stock. I have d/a race software! Vf wont reflash the ecu unless it has stock software! I just found out!:mad So, is there any way i could reflash the ecu with the latest bmw software? Or have the d/a erased?

i dont want to flat bed my car to seattle!:( I heard a program called Auto logitic reverts the software to stock...

Thanks
Ravi

The only way you can revert the software to stock is to have the dealer or someone who has the same as dealer s/w reflash the DME.

See if a mech from the dealership will go out to you?

What is VF's reasoning for not re-flashing the computer with the DA software? I don't think it would make any difference what they write over. I assume VF would write over the entire fuel map for a supercharged engine.

Seems like a crock of sh*t to me... there are ZERO reasons not to reflash it...
+1 Why can't they flash it to stock before they do their reflash?

ES twin screws with the Conforti Shark injector SW where the same. So where the ES M50 intake/cam kits with Conforti S/W. Nick at Technique Tuning requires stock DME prior to tuning. Each tuner has thier own reasons. I doubt it's a crock of s..... If VF needs factory SW, I'm sure there is a good reason. Last VF kit I did told me in the first few pages make sure DME has latest version of factory s/w, then begin install.

I may forward this thread to Sean or Nick @ VF and let them give us a reason.

Thanks everyone,

I spoke with Nik at vf, and he told me Giac will only flash stock software! Im towing the car to bmw on a trailer and have the ecu reflashed!!

I just need to install the water tank and the intake manifold, and run all the lines! :)
I love the blower!

Take pictures of EVERY angle of your car before BMW of Seattle touches it.

Would going standalone on this project be beneficial & yield better results with higher boost applications? Just curious.

I'm pretty sure that's a can of worms. If I'm not mistaken, the factory DME runs much of the gauge cluster, I THINK! Running the engine is do-able with MoTec, but having all the periferals functioning like it did stock may take quite a bit of doing....and very deep pockets.

S/C installs are not that bad, most of the issues i have seen are with software, otherwise it is a lot like any other bolt on.... Ali's supercharege was a bit of a task though.... we only got shipped 3/4's of the actuall kit, had to make some stuff up

On a side note, have you taken any photos documenting the install? It would be great if you had, so you could share the experience with the rest of us!

I had to tow my car twice the first time my tire came off my wheel we ended up backing my car on to the flat bed with the help of some 2x6 boards. the secound was when the transmission gave out I got towed behind my brothers jeep for about 5 miles through down town salem on the 4th of july talk about slouching down in my seat.

Flat bed that car Ravi!!! Nothing else will do. And be sure the tow driver has lots of wood to shim under the tires so as not to damage the front defuser and scrape the tail pipe on it's way up the flat bed.

Why do you need to tow it. Do you still need the reflash?
