In the summer when my car's been in the sun, it retains heat like crazy. I mean it's so hot that I can barely breathe when I get in. I don't even have black seats - my E36 with black seats never really had that problem. My back also sweats like a dirty pig if the sun is shining on me while I'm driving.
Does tint help with this? I've never really been a big fan of tint, but if it helps on that front I may go for it.
Tint King in Billerica is convenient for me - is that the place to go?

Go to Tint King and talk to Brian. He has a few different kind of tint for your bimmer. Some members like the huper optik tint. Tint will help with the UV protection and also blocks out some of the sun. It does help my black cars keeping the heat out. Works even better when you use a windshield cover for the sun.

yes it helps, because less light comes in the car to gather heat inside
also your car has a feature that turns on the circulating fan at a time of your choosing so it cools even better

+1 on the windshield cover. I had one for a while and it was the best thing to keep the extra heat out with the addition of the tint. The windshield cover will also help cracks from forming in the dash if you are in constant sunlight like at work/school w/o a parking deck.

OH yes!!!! Tint does help
Another plus is that when you are running the A/C you dont have to have the fan blasting to keep the car cool

e36s 95+ with the newer climate control did so im guessing e46s have it, check your owners Manuel that where i found out about it and it must come in handy if you leave work/school at the same time everyday, just put it so it turns on 10mins before i get to it and the cars cooler [edit] i never had it but it was in the manual
and get a window shield, may look stupid but helps when you have black interior
