Anyone have a spare MAF for a 528i that I could plug in? I've got some weird issues and a MAF cel, want to see if the other issues are related to the MAF. Waiting to see if Sahakians 540 maf will work.
I can come to seattle, bothell, lynwood, redmond, anywhere around those areas.

Did you try cleaning it?
The issues came about immediately after I cleaned it, so I'm assuming something went wrong.

i hope you used the CRC MAF cleaner. Did you possibly touch the wires on the side of the MAF to anything on accident??

I used the MAF cleaner, and it's a hot plate MAF not a wired one. I cleaned the plates after grounding myself and everything I touched, and I never actually touched the plates. Something went wrong and my CEL came on, maf code. Ive done it on a 540 twice and a 530, I didn't know that it could go wrong like this haha. Good 'ole waste of money

Hmm, sounds like you did it ok. Try cleaning and reseating the connector?

Cleaned the connector and also tried running with and without the MAF hooked up; same exact issues either way. At the shop the code came up as e71 or something like that, MAF code and nothing else. The only symptoms other than the CEL is a very large, clunky jerk from 2nd to 3rd, and 3rd to 2nd gear. A MAF from dealership is 477, and best price I could find online was 320. Just trying to find someone who has a spare that I can plug in, techs at BMW said it is plug and play, no need for a comp reset. Sahakian has a MAF he said I could try out, but since he drives a 540 I'm assuming it's also from a 540, and I'm pretty sure they are different.
