I guess if you had a Lambo and didn't want to modify it too much, or some racing class required the original fuel system it would be a great solution. For us though, at that price, I can't see any reason not to go full EFI. jrcook320 03-12-2008, 09:12 AM I've check those out before. It's definately a cool idea, and I would say the concept is sound. All it needs to do is to be a controlled restriction in the fuel flow from the top port of the FD to the fuel return, and it looks like they can control the amount of restriction based on a varying set of inputs depending on how much you want to spend. It would turn any k-jet system into a sort of cis-e with remote mounted pressure regulator rather than mounted on the side of the fuel distributor. The basic one seems resonably priced to me, but not $699 for the one I would need. For that kind of money I could spend a little more and go with efi which will always be more tunable and make more power than CIS, even with programable control. jmcmath 04-11-2008, 07:35 PM I've been studying the k-jet basic system for a while now, trying to sort out the odd bits on my 77 320i. I've come to the conclusion that the advantages of a somewhat programmable control pressure regulator may outweigh the cost factor in the long run. I've ordered a UTCIS-V and will be experimenting with it in another week or so. When I have some hard numbers I'll post them. fullswing 04-11-2008, 09:08 PM keep us in the loop! oh, btw, josh - i'll be needing your help soon when i start up my engine... busemans 04-11-2008, 09:45 PM dude, this is way bad ass for me. i had megasquirt and it kicked my ass. i finally had to pull it off and go back to stock because i just couldn't get the hang of it. i still have the map sensors, temp sensors, and wideband o2 with controller. i am selling my 89 325i that all the stuff was for because i never drive it anymore but i am keeping the e21 for, at least, a few years. i am going carb with the s/c but until then, this would be a cool little thing to do. the car would be "right" all the time instead of high idle because of incorrect fuel pressure because of hte wur. |
