Or if anyone else has any info...

I went on BavToys website and they explain everything for headlights really well. I have a 95' 325i E36 and it has the stock headlights which, i want to upgrade to angel/demon eyes.

My question is...

How do i know exactly what to get?
There are the headlights, then there are ballasts and HID Kits?? and then bulbs also! Each one of those has about a handfull of choices to choose from also and different specs and costs.

How do i figure out what is what? Or what would be best for my car and my taste? What do they all mean and how are they different?

I want these things to be street legal and extremly bright....but more than anything just to look HOT!

It is frustrating cause i dont understand. Any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks alot guys and sorry for the noob question!

if you want top quality headlights choose their zkw's

now you have the option of adding HIDs or just regular bulbs

if you want hids for better lightning, get the prolumens. I bought them and never had an issue with them

so basically you just need new headlights, and getting HIDs is optional.
p.s. the ballast are what keep the bulbs running, look at it like if the ballast are the engine of the car, they're just part of it

OK cool this is a start...
so first i need all new headlights which you suggest ZKW's. Those are already angel eyes or no? If Yes, why do i need to add HID's? Whats the better loom HID or regular bulbs? pix would be a great way to explain. thanks alot.

yes you do need new headlights, I suggest zkw, because although there are cheaper alternatives, with zkw's you get a thicker glass cover, better projectors and the tabs won't break as easy as the other cheaper alternatives

angel yes are also an add on you can do. many people like them, many don't it's up to you to decide. so yes angel eyes are also optional. in reality you don't need hids because you can still see at night with regular bulbs, but in my personal opinion having driven with HIDs, I can sincerely say that I will never go back to just regular halogen bulbs

here is a pic of what my headlight set up used to look

dde thinlines ( don't know if they exist anymore )
xtec 6k hid ( xtec is out too I think )
zkw headlights

Wow first off nice car man that thing is sexy....nice job man

ok so once i have the ZKW headlights

i can go regular or HID kits...

what is the difference between the two?

after that what type of HID kit should i get? i see a bunch of different preferences...

yes, first thing first,

add the headlights to your check out basket :D

then you can get the HIDs if you want or not, the difference is that with HID's you will see 10X as much :D

right now there are two types the 35 and 55 watts, 55 watts being brighter

I cannot comment on things I haven't personally owned, and I have owned XTEC hids which are now out of the market, I also have prolumen on my other car, and never had a problem with them either

can't speak for other brands

i had Depo Gen 4s from Habbie with Prolumen 6k digital HID kit. they were great lights but i would suggest gettinkg ZKW if you want the best quality available but Depo is a close 2nd, especially for the price.

I bought that package, so I'm not taking sides on vendors, but honestly the headlights are cheap quality, I didn't / don't care about the projectors themselves because i'm doing the tsx retrofit on them as we speak, as soon as I got the headlights I took them apart. First thing I notice was the glass is cheap looking compared to zkw, and the whole assembly looks cheap. Anyway, as I was carefully trying to take them apart, I broke two tabs right away. I put them back together once the tsx projector was inside, went and test it on the car to see if it the light pattern was straight, it wasn't so back I went to my bedroom and as I was taking them apart again, puffff, I broke the tab where the corners latch.
hopefully once I get their hid kit, i won't have the same problem.
For someone that is not going to take apart their headlights they're a great deal I guess, but if you're planning on taking them apart, I'd be very careful. Luckily the metal clips hold the headlight together, if not I'd be screwed :D

If I were to buy headlights and not touch them from the inside, I'd get the zkw/hella

I think it's been widely documented that Depos will always be inferior in quality compared to zkws. I don't doubt that zkws are far superior, since they are european made compared to mass manufactured chinese replicas (or taiwanese if you want to get technical). However - with the rising euro and deflating dollar, combined with our car's lower value and thus lower income buyers relatively speaking, I think you get a better "bang for buck" with a knockoff that's what...maybe 80% of the original for less than a third of the price? But everyone has their own preferences, and some even still have stock headlights... :devillook

If people are ordering DEPOs to use as the base for another upgrade, I am sure that any vendor would be happy to preopen the lights for you and ship them that way so you don't take the risk of damaging the clips. Just a thought.

As for ZKW, much better but they still break from time to time. While they are ostensibly made in Europe, about a year ago we received a crate of them (they come in pallet boxes of 27 lefts and another pallet box of 27 rights), that had a scrap of paper in the bottom of the box that to me would indicate the origin of the box was Shenzen China. I've never seen it again and it might have been a packing fluke. But, odd, none the less. DEPO projectors are made in Germany, BTW.

i highly doubt that any1 could have taken that headlight apart more carefully than Jose. cheaply made items are always gonna be prone to breaking... thats why they are cheap!

DEPO is DEPO. Since this is a support thread, I'll just leave it at that.

oh yeah no problem you still gave me a cheaper price than the current deal you got going on, for what I'm using them I have no complains about them
