I'm a recent transplant to Rochester as of a month ago. I'm looking to tint windows on my '04 530. Really seems from what I see that no one really enforces tint laws around Rochester but wanted to see if anyone has any issues in this area? Or is it as lax as it seems to be? Anyone have any pics of a 530 with 20% or 35% that you could send? Thanks

i live in rochester. i have got a tint ticket 1 time but otherwise its pretty relaxed with tinted windows.

I live and drive around saratoga Springs/albany area.
My M5 has 30% VLT black tint. It looks great. The car came with it on.
BUT, I HAVE gotten more than one hassle about it.
So, they do enforce the law. I get tired of driving around worried about getting pulled over for tints.
So, I would go a shade or two darker than what is legal. It still looks and functions well.
Just my 2 cents...

I go to school in rochester and have 15%. So far no problems yet, Ive even been pulled over for a u-turn and the cop didnt say anything to me about it.

98BMW323is, you mentioned you have had only one issue, how dark are your's?

I would say the strictness of tint laws around here is hit and miss. For the most part you won't get pulled over specifically for tint. I have heard of people getting pulled over for other violations and then the cop is a dick and gives you a hard time about tint.

If you want to guarantee a tint ticket, go to Charlottte beach on a weekend evening and hang out with the ricers.

I don't think you'll have any problems with 35% all around on a BMW in Rochester though.
