Hey all,
Picked up a nail in my left rear 07 coupe with sport package. I'd say it's about and inch from the sidewall and on the first block of treads. I think it may be too close to the edge to fix. New Run-crap is close to $400 installed. All my tires are in very good condition with at least 10k left in mileage. I could replace all 4 tires with non runflats for around $700. Opinons?

Dump the RFTs, put on a good set of non-RFTs and find out how well your Z4 Coupe can actually handle.

Can the TPM's be reused if you go from RFT's to regular radials?

Dump the runflats, then when you're absolutely OVERJOYED with your decision 5 minutes afterwards, please come back here and let everyone know. 100% of the runflat converts give rave reviews to "real" tires. Maybe if enough of these people post their overwhelmingly positive impressions, the runflat apologists among us will finally start to catch on.

Take it to a seedy part of town and have them plug it. I have done this twice on my z4 and no problems, cost $10.00... I went to ntb and they tried to sell me a new tire for like $400.00, they said you could not fix a RFT BS....

That's pretty funny.
I'm sure it could be plugged, but I doubt patched - which is the proper way to fix a tire. I can't bring myself to pay for a new run flat, so either I get a used tire somewhere or I just buy a new set of proper tires. I'm leaning toward a new set. I could probably sell the remaining three and recoup some of the cost of the new tires. Still, a PIA though.

Just had one of my RFTs patched last month. The tire pressue monitor caught it before pressure was below 17 psig. Had a local Goodyear store patch it. Bridgestone dealer refused to patch it. Now seems fine but i'm not an agressive driver.
Like you, I considered dumping them all for non-RFTs. Glad now I did not. Less than 16000 miles on all four tires. Could not bring myself to take the $700-800 hit. Glad now I kept my sanity and went with the patch.
Good luck and let us know what you decide.
