Hello!

I already posted in the registry thread, but I thought I would ask this question:

Is there anything I should know about or do when my M comes in? I did a quick forum search, and I found out about the CDV mod, is there anything else like this I can do to make my car more enjoyable?

It's going to be a long four weeks while it's being processed, built, and shipped!

Cheers!

Graham

CDV definitely (perhaps they changed the 08's), ZHP short shift knob, some non-RFTs, enjoy

Nope, you have to do the CDV on 08's... no RFTs on MR and MC... I added ZHP to the 3.0 but keeping the ///M illuminated shifter on the MC, but I am keeping mine pretty much stock. See 'the Official M Coupe mods' in the Z forum of bimmerfest.com for hints and tips, also Ron Styler's Z4MC faqs there too. LOTS to read and ponder.:)

Oh, and congrats on the MC! You will love it!

Congrats! You should start shopping for some good tires. The Conti's aren't worth their weight in rubber.

How about a driving school? The car is very capable in current stock form...

Thanks everyone!

Mozart, thats exactly the kind of stuff I was asking for! Thank you. It's also nice to see I will have a twin in Texas! haha

Oh and I have heard not so great things about the Conti's. That's why I am planning to pull them off almost immediately and hang on to them until the end of the lease, then put them back on when I turn it in.

As for the driving school, I was really really wanting to take delivery at the performance center in South Carolina and do their one day instructor-led class, but in the end I really don't want to drive a fifth of my yearly mileage allotment in driving home to AZ from there. I will probably just sign up at Bondurant, which is pretty much in my backyard! haha

Keep the suggestions coming!

Congrats :D
Here's a hint -- be sure to utilize cruise control for highway trips: it's much easier to avoid speeding (accidental or intended)!

Also, make sure you adjust your mirrors outwards so you can see your blind spots.
And adjust the rear view mirror so that the roof obscures the top half, otherwise you'll have a nice view of the ground behind the car

Thanks HDW!

Good tips too, though I won't be needing the first one since my car is coming without cruise control (no premium package). haha

I did the same thing with my mirrors on my S2000 when I had it, since I removed the sofftop and installed the hardtop permanently......

By the way.....

I'm now having a bit of a color crisis, because I saw an Interlagos Blue MC this morning, and it was stunning! I have always wanted a white car with a red interior, but after seeing that blue today, I'm not sure what to do!

Any thoughts on how the Interlagos and red leather would look like together? Anyone wish to help me make up my mind on this?

I say stick with your first choice.

I don't know about Interlagos with a red interior. IMHO that takes me waaaay back to the disco days.

I'm a BIG fan of leatherZ's MkIV armrest. Makes long trips much easier and adds needed "small stuff" storage.

Great call on the armrest. Without it I found I was hurting my shoulder by slouching my elbow all the way down to reach / shift. Now I can hold the stick all drive if I want to very comfortably in a natural position. It makes your right arm rest at the same level as your left, assuming you keep your elbows on the door rest like I do.

Stick with your gut on the color, and get ready to have a lot of fun with your new Z!

Can someone fill me in on what a CDV mod is? Thanks!

Robotech, here is the link that someone sent me that really explains everything about the mod(it won't let me post the official link yet, so just make sure to not put spaces and put a "." where it says 'dot'):

Lose the staggered contis and square up with 245/40/18 RE-O1R's all round. They will fit on the stock wheels just fine.

They grip better, turn quicker, and ride firmer. The difference is huge, and because they have heavier sidewalls they are a more durable tire.
