I'm having a problem with my HID headlights and it's coming from the wire out of the ballast.

It's an Xtec kit, and I need to buy a new ballast but I can't seem to find one anywhere.

The best lead I have so far takes me to an apexcone ballast. Is apexcone now xtec? The non slim ballast looks pretty much spot on from the website pics.

What is a trusted website to buy the ballast? If it's an apexcone, I believe understeer.com should have it for about 80 bucks + shipping, but I've also seen it for a little cheaper from xtechid.com and although that seems like the OBVIOUS place to get an xtec hid ballast, there's something about that website that just doesn't seem right to me so I figured I'd ask around before making the purchase.

If your going to spend that much for a ballast, you might as well just get a new HID kit for $15 more.

Apexcone used to sell Xtec kits (called XtecUSA) . But Xtec is an HID company you can google and it will shows Xtec Canada. Now, are you the original owner, if so, then it comes with a lifetime warranty. You would need to contact the vendor's whom you purchase the kit from. I think vendor's who used to sell the kit will still honor the warranty. First, try Apexcone (aka DDM) and see if they have you on their records. Second, give Chris (understeer.com) a ring and lastly, Umnitza used to sell Xtec kits.

But since most HID kits are dirt cheap. Just check the Vendor's Groupbuy or Lighting forum for good deals..

not the original owner, and looking at some of the options for the group buy kits I'm thinking I'll just go that route. One of my headlights glass is cracked anyway.

When we distributed Xtec, we never had a stipulation in the warranty that you had to be the original owner. You can send the ballast to us for replacement. Return shipping is even free.
