Been thinking about taking the plunge and getting a supercharger put on my ZHP. The car is still under warranty for another year, and both my wife and I love it. My only concern is that if something/anything breaks It will be out of my pocket. Or if I decide to get a new M3 this year my zhp will take forever to sell because its supercharged.

What do you guys think?

buy the Technique Tuning turbo kit for your 330: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showpost.php?p=12222134&postcount=204

or buy an E46 M3. Don't waste your money on a supercharger.

the ZHP would have sleeper status...

I say sell it while it still has a warranty and get on the list for a new M3.

Your ZHP is very nice. Keep ZHP for the street and pick up a cheap e46 M3 to turn into a track car.

Yes, nothing like spending 25-35k on a car you drive 5 weekends a year.

I see nothing wrong with that, some people have a car that they use to commute, and some people have a car they use to race - you'll understand this concept when you get a purpose built/bought car, not just to use as a daily driver, but something to really beat the crap out of and drive it like the way it's meant to be driven - not to and from work, but around a course :)

Thanks for your assumptions but I drive my track rat as my daily driver, but spending that much money for a track-duty car is probably excessive.

I suppose it all depends on the size of your bankroll. It would make for a nice track car. ;)

OP-If you want more dd luxury; go for the E9x. Otherwise, tune the ZHP and bank the cash.

I made the assumption otgixxer was looking at E92 M3s. $25k-$30k for E46 M3 isn't so much compared to that.

Bremerton Sports Car club runs auto cross about every other weekend for $25 (pre-registered). Other events at Portland and Pacific seem to run about $100 to $250. Auto cross at PIR is $40-$50 through either the SCCA or Cascade Sport Car Club (I don't remember which one). Porsche club has a track day at PIR for $100 in April. There seems to be a high number driving events available in the Northwest.

Supercharge the ZHP, if you decide you actually want an M3, I'll take the SC'd ZHP off your hands free of charge. :alright

I was gonna say this is a stupid question, and of course you should, but it would make a whole lot more sense to just buy an m3, either e46 or e92, well, the e92 wouldn't make sense unless you're buying one anyway

OT, god damn, between the e46 and the e92, they built as many cars as they did between the first e code car and the e46, that's crazy! Or did they start skipping around recently?

E46 M would be a great track car to drive, but a terriable track car to have to maintain

Skipping, in addition to the current 3 series is classified as e90/91/92 for sedan/touring/coupe

The e codes include concepts though too. At least for a while they were going in order. I know there haven't been 46 new BMWs in production since the e46...
