hey,
Cold shifts stiff, gets there, but not real happy. Once warm, much smoother shiifting. Mostly first and second. No grind like syncos, just bled slave, thinking that may be., New gear lube. Same stiffness first, second, just when she's cold, It is Ohio here, often cold.
New BavAuto short throw, but didn't see any adjustments or such. Is there any adjustments? Maybe just characteristic of the car, help or comments welcome.

Thats the oil, get some redline MTL. It may leak though if your seals aren't new.

If I understand, your of the belief the Redline MTL makes this difference over new Castrol gear lube 80 wt.? And where may it leak from what seals if they aren't new?
I have no tranny leak issues now, it solid. I'm game, but I just want to be clear. And what weight Redline MTL manual gear box oil do I go for ? The MTL specs 70W80, that I see on line, and I also need to refresh the rear diff lube, is this a good spec for the rear diff too ?
Thanx for your time Layne,

i just got 4 bottles of red line mtl and 4 bottles of red line gear oil for my car and my bros e30. the mtl is 75w80 and the gear oil is 75w90. for the tranny use ONLY oil specified MTL or, Manual Transmission Lubricant. and the rear diff use gear oil. both these you can get from bavauto, or any car parts store, kragen, autozone etc. you will need 2 bottles of both, i believe the capacity for the tranny is 1.5 or something and the diff is just over 1... don't quote me on that though

If you used EP oil that will cause your problem, and it will damage the syncros. Diff oil and trans oil are not the same thing. If you don't have any leaks the synthetic will probably be alright, it just has a much stronger tendency to leak.

I've always had good cold weather performance with Castrol Syntec synthetic gear oils - it gets pretty cold in Canada too!
