Nice shot of a beautiful example Sam, and you'd better have something ready for your Lady when she gets back from the States...:stickoutt

Looks great sama... another fine example of a well taken care of 8. You know it's like these cars are in car heaven when guys like all of us in the forum get ahold of them. I think they are more appreciated and better taken care of in this more mature state of their lives than when they were purchased new.
Don't know if I missed it in a previous post, but what are your plans for the interior?

Yo,
Rod

:) That's such a nice car!!!

cheers guys!

@Rod:
you're right about taking more care than the original owners. My car had particularly rough treatment, but she's held up well. Slowly but surely it's shining again :)

I plan to ///M the interior. It annoys me that the CSi is a true M car, but the only thing that tells you this is the engine acoustic cover. So I want to make the interior look like it's an M car, but I don't like tacky stuff. I want it to look fairly OEM. So...

I'm going to get the leather restitched (some patches replaced). If you look at the stitches on the smooth leather, there are 3 of them in parallel everywhere, so I want to get those done as white, blue and red, which should look good on black.

I've already done the gear knob and gator. (Not great pics, they were with phone, and from funny angles). The ///M on the gear lights with the other interior lights.

I got a two metallic ///M stickers that I plan to put on the door sills, so they'll only be visible when you open the door.

I will also get some new super thick floor matts to give it all a fresh new look when it's all done

Sama...

I agree on staying "mostly" OEM. I like the shift boot... is it stock? Post a pic of the metallic M stickers if you don't mind, I'd like to see them, and where did you get them?
Your car may have been rough when you got it, but it looks as if it's very well on it's way to a full recovery. Plus the fact that it's a CSi, well worth everything you put in her, a keeper for life.
I thought you were running the Mputer... still completing fabrication? What's your opinion on being able to integrate a system (monitor) like that into wood trim?

Yo,
Rod

that was before the pooter was put in. which reminds me, I have a newer pic showing the boot:

forgot to add that I'll also be putting a new wheel like this:

http://www.fabdirect.com/netimage/web_image_files/18443_web_image.jpg

I got the boot (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-1751-2978-71/1?AID=5463217&PID=2518995&loc=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Febaymotors%2FBMW-E30-E36-E34-E46-Z3-M3-GEAR-SHIFT-BOOT-LEATHER_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33703QQihZ013QQ itemZ230229289248QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW%23ebaypho tohosting) and knob (can't find) seperatly from ebay, and hacked my current one to take the plastic part from the bottom.

here's the stickers (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-1751-2978-71/1?AID=5463217&PID=2518995&loc=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.co.uk%2FBMW-M-TECH-HEADREST-BADGE-STICKERS-E36-E46-E90-Z3-M3_W0QQitemZ130204379263QQihZ003QQcategoryZ10374QQ ssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem%23ebayphotohos ting) but they wont' be going on no headrest of mine :)

they're aimed to look something like this:
http://www.fabdirect.com/netimage/web_image_files/1912_web_image.jpg

there's a guy on digital-car (radiotrib) that has done a wood trim integration, involving lots of dies etc, and it's quite amazing. The thing is, you may not even need to. There's very little to hack away. Do you have a clost pic of the interior? especially showing the divide between the top (obc) and middle (headunit) strip.

Nice wheels Sam, are they genuine BMW? I like the lit gear know as well, my e36 evo had one (probably where yours came from as most of them have been trashed) - it's very cool....

@Nick
They're not, they're replicas, the originals only came as large as 18, and not with that deep lip at the rear. The gear gator came from China, so probably a non original too, but looks good for it :)

@Rod
If you look at TallTony's screen, he has it slightly deep, so it's behind the bezel and not flush, where as the original equipment lies pretty much flush with the console.

If you we to do a similar thing with yours, since you only have to remove that center bit, you'll have to do some clever colouring where it's removed on the edges. But it's such a small area, that it would hardly be noticed. In fact, with some very clever handywork, you could perhaps skim a bit off the removed peice, and stick it onto the cut off parts. I personally think it's doable.

Nice car Sama! One of my favorite colors, after the silver of my car of course :-) I don't think I've seen seats quite like your's. Are they suede inserts? From the Factory that way?

sama

cheers Rocky. Those are the two tone black/gray seats. Two-tone leathers came as standard on CSi's

Very nice. I'm afraid to go any larger than 18" though given the streets I have to traverse...

the ride has certainly got a bit harder, and I've not got stiffer suspension in there yet

That is probably because you lost some of the absorbing power that is in the sidewall and next time go with run flats, which have a very stiff side wall, to see the difference that makes.:eyecrazy

Great looking car!
