I do have a 1911 .45 ACP, but my EDC is a Glock 23 in 40S&W. My main competition gun is an STI 2011, also in 40 S&W. It holds 18+1, but I'm looking to get the 20 round magazines soon.

It doesn't really matter what caliber you use, since the sole use for a handgun is to fight your way to your CARBINE! :alright

But when the carbine isn't handy, I'd prefer to have as much punch as possible.

As for shot placement, yeah that's great in theory and all, but when your veins are running 100% adrenaline, your odds of getting good hits COM goes way down. I'd expect your groups to at least double at 7 yards in a life-or-death situation. And that is over your rapid fire groups at 7 yards at the range, not your "take your time and aim carefully" groups.

Scollins rule's for gunfighting:
1.) Have a gun! Preferably a carbine in a rifle caliber.
2.) Have more than enough gun! If not a carbine, then the biggest caliber handgun you can shoot effectively.
3.) Avoid it if you can, but if you can't the only rule is to survive. There is no such thing as "fair".
4.) Brings friends with guns!
