View Full Version : Order status question
DTMbmwthree 03-07-2008, 02:31 AM i have been calling 1 800 lately, and the car is still sitting at scheduled for production with no confirmed date. They(dealers) said it should take about 6 to 8 weeks. However, it seems like with this slow process the car will never get hre in 6 to 8 weeks because it hasn't even been produced. So my question is this, for how long did each steps took you about?

The 800 number and Website with the Owners Circle stink, and are not accurate, in my experience..
my car was ordered on Jan 25,2008....it was built and sitting to be transported by Feb 10..It got on a boat on the 21st...and arrived at NY on the 4th of February ( 13 days by boat)..It is now the 7th..My dealer says my car should be ready to be picked up by 12th of March..we will see..
If it does get there on the 12th..it will be 6 weeks and 5 days..from order to delivery..
All along the website has been inaccurate and slow moving, and the 800 useless....If you check your order status..do you have a VIN number yet?

Ordered my car on the 23rd. It has been built. That took about a week. It has been sitting in "produced not shipped" status for a few days now. I am betting this will take about another 10 days, and then it needs to be railed to the ship yard. With any luck, I should be on the ship next week or the week after.

First, the 800 number is very up to date, faster updates than OC on the web. My dealer must have had an allocation slot he modified because my car was scheduled to be built 2 days after I ordered it. It completed production within 1 week of my order and is now on the way to the port for shipping. If your dealer doesn't have an allocation slot, I believe your order can sit around for a while before it's scheduled for actual production. Ask your dealer when his next allocation is scheduled and if your car will be in it. They can modify a current order and change it to your specs up until the time it's actually at the production stage.

I just called the 800 number 5 minutes ago..... for laughs to check on the 'status' of my car..
It said my car was "at the port awaiting a shipping vessel"...
I already know from my dealer that my car was unloaded off a boat in NY on March 4........and I should have it by March 11 or 12th......
So the 800 number has not been updated at least from Feb 21 ( the day the Manon boat took my car to NY)
So I am not sure about the 800 number is "very up to date" quote from above..:)

This is my 2nd BMW. In both cases, the 800 number was very accurate, at least up until it boarded the ship. Then you need to use the shipping web site to confirm unloading in the US, etc. The 800 number reported for my new 335i: scheduled for production with estimated date, production started, paint shop, production complete, pending release to carrier, being transported to the exit port. I expect the status to change to "at exit port" in the next couple of days and then on board a vessel.
The OP is having an issue where his dealer does not yet have an allocation spot. That is why he is still in ordered status. It can sit there for several weeks until his dealer gets an active allocation slot.
