In this video he is toping out a 250k, I am sure the M70 can do better.
I myself am not worried about 0-60 or 1/4 but I like top end, I wonder how fast you could go if someone where to do the basic mods, wokkie chip, exhaust, and shrick cams on a stock motor.
whale 03-07-2008, 02:32 AM My 840 has had the 155 speed limiter removed with Dinan performance software. Why the previous owner felt it necessary?? Bragging rights? Theoretically it now has a top speed of 180mph. I spent a career comfortably cruising at 450 knots fifty feet off the deck, but I'm afraid common sense, tire rating and unpredictability would dictate not testing that software upgrade on the road! After viewing the subject video, I would say that the individual making the recording on an occupied two lane road was not exercising good judgement. I felt comfortable cruising at 125 on the Autobahn until some guy coming up behind me in a Mercedes was flashing me to move over!!

Wonder who's that is... pretty rare to see a purple dash. Bet that one could be traced pretty readily ;)
tread72 03-07-2008, 04:06 PM I do not speed on a highway anytime there are other cars or another person sitting in the car, but what I was wondering is what is the top speed of a BMW 850i 6spd M70 motor in general. I think 250 km is not the tops speed of these cars. :)

I've heard of a CSi that loos like mine with a driver similar looking to me, doing about 160mph and the thing still asking for more. I also heard this guy had a similar attitude to Rob and only sped when no other ppl on highway/in car and thus risking only his own life

bmw840 03-08-2008, 11:18 AM the 90 850I with the speed limiter remove will not go any highter than 160 to 165if that, we talked of a 4200lbs car here it just does not have the horsepower to reach highter speed, the 850CSI tops at 175 (guage) real mph may be slower
My old ZR1 top at 180 but had 400hp and weight was about 800lbs less.
my 840CI stock his gears to reach over 210mph at red line but just lack the horsepower to propel this heavy weight to that speed. and RPM.JMHO

..that is a 185,000 mile automatic. Says something about well maintained 8's..
