I need to replace my rtabs and I'm trying to decide if I want to do it myself of have a shop do it.

Does anyone have the rtab removal and installation tool that I can rent?

Has anyone tried this tool from Pelican? http://www.pelicanparts.com/bmw/catalog/shopcart/BE36/POR_BE36_TOLtol_pg1.htm#item3 (bottom of the page). I wasn't sure if it'll do an rtab, but thought I'd ask. I asked Pelican and all they knew is that it's for a 44mm bushing, but I haven't figured out what the rtab diameter is yet.

Anyone know what a shop will charge?

Thanks,
-m.

From what I hear, you might wanna pay someone to do the rtabs. I've heard some real horor stories.

Get the powerfelx ones. Screw the stock ones. Once you disconnect the rear control arm you can just use a sawzall to get the old ones out and the new ones will just drop right in. No pressing required. You will need an alignment though. Don't discount that..

RTAB bushing diameter is about 60mm. That remove or install the RTAB's. You are much better off with buying the RTAB tool. Check Ebay, there might be a RTAB tool on there.

I'd DIY it with poly bushings. Seems like a lot of shops make their bread and butter on RTABs.

Stock RTAB's can be replaced for $130-140 including a new RTAB tool and new stock rubber bushings.
