Just thought I'd throw a question out there......has anyone attempted to ,or heard of anyone modifying the stock euro muffler for better sound / flow ?
There seem to be a few around for sale cheap, might make for good DIY mod.

why modify the stock when you can pick up a used aftermarket one cheap?

Yes it can be done, you cut open the rear half of the top of the backbox then cut through the 2 pipes removing a 1" section of each and then weld the outer skin back on.
Thus youhave stock look and sports sound.

i actually got sick of the overloud aftermarket exhaust, and bolted the std one back on. sometimes i just want a bit more noise from the std one. may need to search for a 2nd exhaust to trial some things

Eventually I've found a S/H muffler which I split in half (now not usable) for the purpose of sussing out what can be done to mine with minimal surgery. I've posted some pics, if anyone has any ideas please feel free to comment.

Maybe boring a 40mm hole in the baffle just left of the two pipes entering the rear chamber?-picture #4, I'm thinking this may allow some of reflection straight out again instead of just doing whatever it does in the back there.

I've just made a small change to my stock muffler, very glad there's no droning, but not as loud and raspy a change as I was looking for.
All I did was remove the fluff from the front chamber.

Though not for the Euro muffler, for a brief amount of time Dinan modified stock M3 Mufflers by cutting pipes and removing other materials, thus allowing better flow and giving an awesome sound! They are really rare, my last '95 M3 had one and it sounded great. If you are serious about it, go ahead and ask Dinan for some advice, they would probably share since they do this anymore.

I've just picked up a complete standard exhaust and am considering fabbing a cone race pipe and putting it inside the stock debaffled chamber. Does anyone know what the resonator has inside it? Since I have a spare I could save making the race pipe.
