Hey guys,

I just had the car in the shop to get my coolant/thermostat changed. Now I get the "Coolant Level - See Owners Manual" message on the OBC.

I know that the sensor is on the bottom of the coolant tank and if I remove it the coolant will drain. My question is, will I need to bleed the system if only the tank is drained? Or would it be possible to quickly remove the sensor and plug the hole with something while I connect the new sensor?

Thanks!

not necessarily a bad sensor....

two things...make sure its connected and make sure its facing the right way...

its a finger looking thing that sticks into the coolant, its split in half with the lower half sealed with air....so when coolant is full the boyancy (sp?) pushes the botton half up against the top half and completes the circuit...

if the sensor was rotated the boyancy effect cant complete the circuit.

oh and ofcourse make sure u have enough coolant

Mine said check coolant after I had to drain some out, as i drove it the level was okay, but when I shut the car off it came back. I just had to keep adding a little after a couple drives. After 2 or 3 top offs the warning went away. Just needed time to recirculate into entire system I guess.

I also found another way that the car whines. I still have not had time to check guibo or center bearing, but it sounds direct from transmission. Here the setup. I'm driving down the highway toward a red light. I put it in neutral and just let it coast. When clutch in, no sounds. Clutch out, faint sound. If I move the shifter towards any gear, without using force or attempting to shift, the whine gets louder. Possible syncros? Just worn out and tired?
