Hello.

I need help mapping 3 wires from the OEM heated seat switch to complete my retrofit of OEM heated seats in my '00 e38.

I have scoured e38.org, this forum, roadfly, multiple google searches, etc. All I have come up with is a diagram for a '95 e38 that has different switchs.

Any help on mapping the following wires would be appreciated. I will include a static link for pics of the wires and harness below.

1. Red w/blue stripe - I think this a continuous power lead given the gauge, the coloration, and the position in the harness. Of course, this is just a guess.

2. White w/red stripe & yellow dots - I think this would wire into an ignition-on circuit to open/close the switch circuit. Another guess.

3. Purple w/white stripe & yellow dots - I have no idea.

I am going to try to post this link... I just lost a more descriptive narrative for this thread when I got an error that my newb status won't let me post links (ugh)... so, please copy/paste into a browser to follow the link (thanks!)...

Thanks in advance -justin

Did you ever figure this out?

I believe:

RT/BL - from fuse 39 to pin 7 of switch module.
WS/RT/GE - from pin 7 of IKE to pin 21 of switch module.
VI/WS/GE - from fuse 48 to pin 23 of switch module.

RT=red
BL=blue
WS=white
GE=yellow
VI=violet or purple

Thanks for the reply! Yours is the first. I resorted to trial and error with a multi-tester and a bunch of aligator clip wires this last Saturday with no success. This seems promising. What is "IKE"? Your repsonse is much appreciated; this project was ruled dead-in-the-water as of this last Saturday... hopefully this will get me going again.

IKE = instrument cluster control module.

On the 98-01 cars, the IKE is built into the instrument cluster. Just remove the cluster and look for the appropriate colored wire in one of the three electrical connectors.

I actually love your sig pic! I am BU class of '99. I am very familiar with that perspective of Kenmore Sq. Of course, Kenmore was little more than a dump when I was there and the SMG building was brand new in my junior year! Have they finally fixed the Citgo sign or did you ammend it in your image?

Also, the pics on your personal site are great.

Thanks...
