I'm just looking for a LKM for a 1990 535i. I've been driving around for a week with one headlight working. I took it in to a shop and had some of the joints soldered and it worked for a day and then failed.
any help would be appreciated. I'm a poor college student and just need to catch a break.
thanks

Buy a $10 soldering iron and solder kit from radio shack and have somebody at school that's handy with electronics show you some soldering technique. That's by far the quickest/cheapest/easiest fix. Chances are the guys at the shop aren't great at soldering...haven't met a pro mechanic yet that was. (someone will correct me now)
Otherwise I believe the US-spec E34 LKMs should be functionally interchangeable, even though they do differ internally. So you should be able to use one off of a different car.

right on, thanks for the advice. I'm going to have my uncle give it another go on friday. Hopefully it turns out better than the shop guys work.
I did look on ebay and they're not that expensive, but hopefully I dont have to go that route.

You've been corrected. I can solder like it's nobody's business.
