Permatex "The Right Stuff" gasket compound works great for metal to metal seals without a gasket. I've used it on diff covers without a gasket and no leaks, even with synthetic. Autozone & Pep Boys carries it & most likely many other places as well.

x2. Works for valvecovers, oil pans, etc too. $12-$13 a can last time I bought some, but it WORKS. I like to smear it hard and thin with a finger on one surface, and then put the bead on the other... after 5 minutes or so, you cna assemble and it will lierally almost glue the parts together.

??? axle seal??? It isn;t for replacing rubber seals/ seals between moving and non moving objects.if you mean the output shaft seal.

umm...not sure, i wasnt sure if it would work, i doubt it. I Have a question tho, the steering pump is leaking, is that at all rebuildable?

x10, Before I found the Right Stuff I'd only used regular RTV silicon, and it was so bad I swore off it. Someone told me to use Right Stuff once, that he swore it was the greatest thing ever. I trusted his opinion, and man was he right. It's the greatest thing ever.
