ducky 05-01-2003, 02:19 PM Oh. My. God.
Beautiful car man, good luck selling.
AutoCouture 05-03-2003, 08:36 PM $37,000! OUCH! I wish I had the cash for that schweet car! Why are you selling such a nice car?
Tim W. 05-03-2003, 08:45 PM Well here is WHY the price is what it is:
Car cost in Europe: 25k (for the right car)
Importers Cost: 7k (that is shipping inspections and mechanical inspections)
DOT Certification: 10k
Ballpark cost 40 to 42k. PLUS you have to wait 6 to 12 months to get your car.
We are selling to get another Euro import....and e34 M5 with a 850CSI engine :D
moonluv810 05-03-2003, 09:59 PM Tim,
I must say that you have a one of a kind automobile and it looks very well-maintained. Good luck in your sale!
One question, why was it rebuilt with only 42k miles on it?
Tim W. 05-03-2003, 10:29 PM Best we can figure it was the gas in Europe and or the owner di not let it warm up correctly before driving hard. THe 3.8 motor needs to be warmed before running hard.
So it was rebuilt and actually it was nice since the engine was given a strong clean bill of health :D
The biggest thing with a M5 engine is getting the engine compression checked etc.
We love the car and are ONLY selling it to get the VERY special V12 version.
Thanks for asking
Mikey52 05-04-2003, 08:35 PM My God, so beautiful. :boink How wide are those rear wheels/tires? They look HUGE! Good luck on the sale, I hope whoever gets it appreciates it.

Exactly!!! Many people can afford nice cars, but only a handful appreciates what they have.
Tim W. 05-04-2003, 11:21 PM I appreciate what I have...trust me. The only reason I am even CONSIDERING sale is the e34 with a v12 :D
They are 275's on a 18x10. Stickes to the road like glue :D

Oh... my comment wasn't directed at you. Just people in general. :)
Tim W. 05-05-2003, 12:13 AM Oh I hear ya. Yesterday there was a guy that showed up at the Dairy QUEEN in a 01 e39 M5. I started talking to him about it and he had no clue what he was driving. :eyes1
Low Level 05-09-2003, 10:55 AM Oh so beautiful.
Wow.
Good luck - it's incredible.
Tim W. 05-09-2003, 08:42 PM Thanks Man!!!!!!!!!!!!
Blackspeed 05-15-2003, 09:43 AM Hey Tim I'm in Denver also. I don't have the coin to buy it but I would love to come see it.
Tim W. 05-15-2003, 07:09 PM Nope.
What are you expecting to pay? It will never be a give away car.
I think I am going to keep it anyway. THe e34 with the 850CSI engine in it is nice but may be a bit "difficult" to maintain.
Blackspeed: I will have it at the Concourse event at ACC on the 8th. Stop in to see it then maybe?

The car is sweet/rare/beautiful but you have to realize the market is automatically capped by the E39 M5.
I think low $30's would be a much more realistic asking price.
Don't be offended...remember, I'm the buyer.
m3bro 05-15-2003, 10:03 PM I was looking for a M5 before I went to the M3 I have now which I love (too much). I might have been very interested in your car but from my research the E34 M5 engines require a good amount of money and maintenance.
Anyway, just like other folks have stated....who ever gets it (or keeps it) will be very lucky!
Tim W. 05-15-2003, 11:24 PM J:
Sorry, but without trying to get into an argument, your wrong. Now lets look at this. You go buy one in Europe, import it, EPA it, then fix all the gremlins that WILL be present. Granted you will have waited about 6 to 12 months. I have found that most incoming M5's need mechanicals (struts, brakes, engine etc.).
Now this car has all parts replaced and in good shape (have records). Those bills total close to 9k.
Now go out there and find a M5 Euro available right now in better shape for a better price. You may find one or two, maybe. So although I respect the fact you are trying to get a "deal". I have a total of 3 BMW's and this car is not a fire sale car. The ONLY reason I was considering selling it was the prospect of the e34 with a V12 in it :D.
I spent some time the other evening Zymoling it and it looks awsome. As I told Will Z. "I think I am going to keep it". IT is in such good shape that going thru the headaches of the importation process is daunting.
Now I can tell you where you can get a few in your price range. There are a few out there but they have some big unknowns. Heck I know of a 93 for 10k then you need to import it for 3500. But the history is VERY suspect. But you can get it for cheap.
M3bro:
Yes they do. But once you whip it into shape (or find one that is already there) they are like most other BMW's. Maintain them and treat them right and they will last a good long time. That is why I like this one so much. It has had the engine work done and it is a strong runner. I will be due for a valve adjustment soon, but that is realativly painless.
Don't mis-understand me guys, the car is pricy but it is worth it. And yes I understand that the market is soft (saw a 03 M5, 03, M3 and 2 02 M3's in stock at my local dealer).
Good luck with your search. If you wish to have more detailed info mail me.
Later and Peace
