Hey guys,
I'm on my 2nd E36 ///M, but was really interested in getting something for a daily driver. I searched and searched and searched for an E30 that matched my criteria, but never found it. The more I searched for E30's the more I fell in love with the E34's. I've always loved E34N's black 5-series, which led me to send a random e-mail his way just casually mentioning how much I liked his car and hoped to have one some day. He directed me to SCDavid's black E34 here on the forums for sale. It was an instant match for me. After E-mailing SCDavid back and forth for a week I felt really comfortable with the car, bought the plane ticket, and packed my bags (well "bag").

Flew from Utah to San Jose, Ca. Met up with David (Great guy btw :wave) and after all was said and done I was on my way. It was an awesome drive home. After almost 700 miles and 12 hours, I went from "really liking the car" to "I'm completely in love with this little guy". I'm so excited to start restoring it to it's former glory. I have a TON to learn about the E34 world and look forward to meeting some other great people on this board.

I wanted to give out a personal thanks to E34N for showing me the car in the first place and to David. He went WELL ABOVE and out of his way to make the buying experience a good one. Big kudos to him.

Here are some pics from the trip back:

Nice looking car, very clean, interior looks really great from what I can see, I wish my car looked like that..... if only I wasn't in college and broke......

My brother made a road trip from Iowa to San Jose and back a couple years ago in an e34 (which is now my car) I think it would be a fun thing to do. Especially with the help of your little Garmin friend, they are nice aren't they?

I've got a tranny that's in awesome shape and will slap into that car in no time. $200, plus shipping, if you're interested. Glad to see David's car went to a deserving owner. Welcome to the adult section of BF.c! Have you filled out the registry yet? It should be pretty easy to copy and paste the info from David's post :D

Orly? I may be interested as the months wear on and the tranny gets worse (seems plenty driveable as of now)

The Navigation is a MUST have for road trips. I simply wouldn't even try without one because it relaly is THAT convenient.

Thanks for all the great welcomes guys!

Aw man, my baby is so far away now! Those pictures make me sad and happy at the same time. I love the picture of the interior with all of the electronic goodies. The car never saw any of that cool stuff when I had her, though I'd love to get my hands on a GPS and radar detector someday. Anyway, welcome to the community Grant! There are lots of great people on here as you already seem to have found out.

Dude, you know you regret not taking the chrome bottle caps now. They're basically the equivalent of 18" style 5's in rarity and hotness.

omg in hindsight I'm totally droolin over the idea of chrome bottlecaps! I'm sure BMW looks back and totally doesn't think of chrome bottlecaps as a mistake or anything :-P. Well I'm off to M-Fest tomorrow. Hopefully I'll spot some E34 M5's rocking the chrome bottlecaps :-)
