Aye...I used to have a e36 325i, so I would never step into the Z forum, but I just bought a 2003 Z4 3.0i Black Ext/Tan Int Prem Pck...Too bad it doesn't have the sport package, but I still love the car.

Amazing car in regards to handling, speed, and braking. The electronic steering assist is 50/50 in my book, so far.

I was into modding my E36 and was looking around, but not many websites support the Z4 for modifications. I saw a supercharger over at KO performance and a few things at Dinan, but not that much support in general.

Is there someplace that I'm missing or is the aftermarket for the Z just not there?

Also...what are some key problems that I should look for to avoid major repair.

Congrats!! The Z4 do not have too much performance mods. It is pretty tuned from factory already.

These cars don't need much. If you have extra money then spend it on real good tires.

Its hard to break these cars. I drive mine hard on rough roads, and they just get better and better. They seem to get smoother and faster.

Reading this forum there doesn't seem to be many problems with these cars. The M series in particular are well sorted out.

I intend to keep mine until they are completely worn out, and I don't think they ever will be.

You have the pre-facelift Z4 with the M54 engine so all the goodies that fit the E46 w/ M54 engine should fit your car as well. Headers, intake, S/C, etc. Exhaust there are a few options out, a few suspension options, wheels/tires, just the same as any other BMW in terms of modding IMO. If you had the facelift Z4 w/ the N52 you'd be SOL in terms of engine mods like me. Welcome

I too am new to the fam. Last saturday I ordered the 2008 3.0si Black sapphire/Dream red roadster with the prem and sport package. My delivery is expected last week of April, first week of May. I am rediculously excited. The only mod I am thinking of is exhaust. I can't wait to fly through this website and find the sickest one out there. Until the amazing day my landshark arrives I will be oogling all of yours! Haha
