particularly a 3.0i with both sport and premium package, but the thing that came to my attention is if there is a 6 speed steptronic availiable for the 2005 model? i know the SMG is a 6 speed, but those are rare when it comes to finding it within my own specifications.

The SMG was for all the pre-facelift years, though very rare for 2005. BMW officially claims that they felt the 6-spd Steptronic was sufficient in 2006, but it was poor sales that killed the beast.

On the plus side, if the OP is looking for one, odds are it will be fully-optioned; when I was searching, SMG was typically a sign that the original owner simply ticked ALL of the options boxes - extended leather, alarm, bluetooth, the whole enchilada.

I almost got the SMG when I purchased my 04 roadster. There was some issues with SMG that turned me away.

Reach, the vehicle you linked to, i had test drove already on saturday, but there was heavy front end damage, damaged the steering and the suspension too. but if the 2005 steptronic is a 5 speed i can cope with that. thanks for the info guys (:

I have a 04 Z4 2.5 that I'm trying to get out of (need something a little bigger, like another 3er). I'm currently at 32k and the car is CPO'd to 100k.
