How many miles per tank are e38 owners getting.

Last time I actually recorded it I got about 310 with 70% city 30% highway driving.

About 450. I refill when I get to a half tank.

If I run soley on motorways, then I can get about 500 miles, the range on the OBC will climb to 550ish, but I never chance running the fuel right down. If I run around town I guess I'll get between 250-300 miles.

Quite often I have to do a 550 mile drive & it costs me £80 (roughly 80 litres), I always top up with an extra £20 somewhere during the trip, but I reckon if pushed, the BM would get me home again on 1 tank.

Funnily enough, on the last 550 miler, I didn't use the 730i, I used a 1.6ltr Mitsubishi, although I didn't relish the trip using the Mitsubishi, I consoled myself with the thought that I might save £25 or more on fuel. I saved £5 after 550 miles - I was gobsmacked, £5 for all the extra luxury & peace afforded by my BM & It's 3ltr V8! There's no contest is there.

I get between 280 and 320 in town depending on how I drive. Plust I only live a couple miles from work, so my engine has just warmed up by the time I get there, so my mileage isn't the greatest.

300miles, but thats because Im in a cityish area. But what kills me is the 15 mile stretch of I-95 that cuts through DE. Those 15 miles are a temptation for my foot.

I used to get 250-300mi/tank in my 01 740i Sport.
I now get around 300 from my VW GTi, but with a 14.5gal tank, not 22.5.
But I miss my 7 every day :( :help

Im getting about `11mpg right now. So you can do the math, its bad, really bad.
Of course its all city driving, and when the weather is this bad its going to get bad on mileage

I get about 280-300 on a tank with HARD driving. I have, on one occasion, gotten 600 miles from one tank with 11 left on the range after a road trip from UT to CO.

18.3 miles/gallon on a 2007 750IL - since temp dropped to -20
In summer it was closer to 20m/g

i get about 400 or lil more and i drive like a grandma

over 320 per tank when I floor it from every stop in city and do 100 on the freeway.
over 440 per tank when I cruise at 80 on freeway constant

I pick the first choice usually.

About 1,848,000 feet per tank.

Over 500 on the freeway. I'm happy with my MPG :buttrock

I am getting between 380 and 420 depending how hard I drive the car. Mostly I am at about 410. Not bad considering this is an 8 CYL!

Yeah that's what I figured after I posted, but the 3.0 gets about the same mileage as the 4.0/4.4

I get 100 miles per tank. Oh and I should mention I never really fill it past 1/4 unless I am doing a roadie. Which I haven't recently.

97 740il with 114K, I typically get between 290-325 per tank depending on the traffic. A recent road trip to florida over 2,500 miles I averaged 25 mpg including 80 mph interstate driving. Great range on the highway, per the computer it was over 500 miles.

Now, I have a 3200-lbs vehicle that comfortably outruns direct competitors and beyond. Just this morning I raced (succesfully) a brand-new Infiniti G35S. Impressive...:alright

been trying to keep her in the driveway during the winter / snow months but since my work car has a CEL light on and has a terrible sputter, I have been exercising my e32. Typical is 300 - 330 per tank (with 30 - 80 miles till empty), if majority hwy, I'll actually get 360 - 385. When I use premium gas, the OBC calculates 510 - 540 /tank.

Just turned 118K miles, needs minor work valve cover gaskets, coolant change, brake fluid change, power steering hose leak(s). Typical average has been around 17.4-17.6 /gallon.

It's all good, I'm just giving you a hard time. I'd like to play around with my 7 a little more, but I've been easy on it, and will continue to be easy on it until next weekend when I get all my leaks sorted out. I'm currently leaking oil, coolant, and power steering fluid :woot:

I got about 500 even on a tank driving back from Fl to CT and it took about 22 gallons when I filled it. I am not sure how much it will hold but I think I was empty. I am only 5/8 in to my first tank around town with about 15% highway and I am not disappointed at all so far. I do think gas is different in parts of the US as well. Up in the North east we have additives at certain times of the year. What and when I am no expert but I bet someone here knows. My v8 euro hemi still gets better mileage than my 6 cyl Grand Cherokee.

That sounds about right. The range will show something like that at that point on mine too! It makes for a great road trip if you are travelling with people that dont need bathroom breaks... Atlanta to Cincinatti none stop baby!!

We drive to Michigan every year in August for the world's largest car show and cruise. I should be able to do the whole trip, there and back, including cruising and all my driving there, on about 4 tanks. That's about 1600 miles not including the driving while I'm there. We usually take my Dad's E46 M3, but this year I'll be taking mine too. His can go for about 350 miles per tank.

I've never used Shell gas in the 750 before, but last week I filled up with their V-Power 93 octane and got 25mpg on the highway doing about 75mph.

22 is the best mileage I've ever gotten before that.

That being said - the tank will last 500+ miles.

I'm no grandpa - I'm only 35, so I get on the throttle a few times per tank. I wonder if climate has anything to do with gas mileage? Since I've owned my car, I've averaged almost 18mpg with mostly in town driving.

It seems like ya'll {with extra southern drawl} northerners are getting poor mileage - also, do they add stuff to your gas up there for pollution control?

in the UK petrol is about £1.05 per litre, hence I had to opt for a 728i...

filled a tank cost me £85... got through half of it and the distance covered so far is 280 miles...

I average 22mpg since I bought the car and drive in the city, avg 35mph. I am happy with this since my other cars are worse. 1987 560sl avg 14mpg, 1996 Audi A6 18 mpg.

Latest round trip to to Lafayette, LA from Houston, TX. (256 Mi each way approx + city driving 2-days in lafayette)

23.7MPG AVG. cruised @79mph 2400RPM

485 Miles and about little less than quarter tank left before I refilled on the way back at beaumont.

the range on these are awesome. My e420 does a similar range.

98 740iL, averaged 9.2L/100km (25.5 MPG) on 900km highway drive (varying speeds and also quite a few stop offs) and average about 15L/100km with mostly city driving (90%).

i WANT TO SAY ABOUT 300-320.
i commute over the altamont (10-15mpg uphill) 2 days a week and the rest i only live about 3 minutes from work so its just warming up by the time i get there.

this 1988 735i 3.5l inline 6 get the same mileage my 1995 toyota avalon with 3.4 V6 did!!

'97 735 Town driving lots stop and start 350 miles on 80L not a lot but it's comfortable!!!!!!
