I have an honest question for everyone. If money was no object, what modifications or repairs who you do to your car? What would you replace? Engine mods, tranny?Interior? Anything you wanted to do, what would you do? Just curious...

I would have Henry Lawrence build me a 6.0 DOHC twin turbo engine, full Zeemax body kit with an Alpina hood and interior.

Thats if I have enough money to act stupid with for the rest of my life.

Curious, how much would the Henry Lawrence build cost?

Never, baby. I love my 40. I've been reading and researching so much lately, besides regular "work", my brain is getting fried. I need fresh, new ideas to help keep me on track. The best way to accomplish that is to ask a question like this with no parameters. I ha Tx and Koizumis interior pics, Rod's exhaust, and almost ever other pic that has been posted here all over my "War Room" to keep me focused. I have nothing but love to the 40's and +4's.;)

I'm not sure that an 860 TT is possible........there "may" not be enough material left at the cylinder walls/block to be able to withstand the stress of forced induction and if there is it will absolutely need to be intercooled and run only low boost..............perhaps MWrench can comment......

:thinkergAnyone know the specs on the new M3 V8? Would that be a feasible swap, say, if one was wrecked and being parted out?

I would:

- rebuild the engine, porting, blueprinting, uprated injectors, strengthening the valves and other bits

- supercharger with high boost

- carbon fiber bonnet/wings/sun roof/boot, maybe lighter seats if luxury can be kept

- 3.45 differential internals swap with the (to keep the CSi transmission cooler) and uprated clutch

- restitch the interior, adding a nice ///M colours triple stitch on the black leather

- rewire all speakers and have a digital amp, carpc

Other than that, I'd do the restoration tasks of:

- Respray

- Replace all seals all around

- Restore leather interior

- Engine bay and underside restore & clean

I plan to do most of the above, except the diet :)

Is there a seat swap that has been done with the eights? I like the seats, now. Other than reupholstering, I am quite happy.

I've heard anecdotal accounts of seats swaps, no images tho. I suppose it's got to be a matter of brackets and mechanisms, once you remove the seats, but then... it would look pants!

You'd have to be daft or right Charlie to think that'd look good..... lol... I feel like me pap in the early days tryin his best ... "Well that would be near out son..." "No Dad.... it's far out..."
btw. sama...I can set you up with those Motorsport 3.45 gears and an LSD. You've got the optional cooling too? I learned a lot about those in extensive conversations with Martinw and his.

If you think even remotely "English" over here people look at you funny--even on line:)

I have been on ClubE31 since its reincarnation so I end up typing near side and offside as well as boot and bonnet way too often on forums. Some days I'm not even sure which is the Correct side for the steering wheel.

Somehow if there is a new Brit at work I end up being the translator and that makes it even worse :)

Anyone know the specs on the new M3 (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=950756#) V8? Would that be a feasible swap, say, if one was wrecked and being parted out?

Same torque as you have now. That motor's a screamer-not a good match at all for our cars. If you're going to go to the trouble of an engine swap, there are much better options. Although, you're much, much better of "simply" go the SC route for less money. With very few exceptions, you do the engine swap because you can (read:$$$), not because it makes sense.

Wow, let me jump on that one. If I happen to win the lottery, that would be a feasible option. I think Hartge does the v10 transplant, too. Saw it in a 3 series, wicked.

I will be putting up my 860 up for sale in a few weeks to start my next 8 Series project. I will calculate out the cost then. I am thinking a 850 CSL Project that may have the developmental Engine upgrade.

2) .....If I had the money. I Love your car:buttrock

Could it be a 6.9 liter turbo N73 swap maybe?:devillook:redspot

How much would you like for the 860? I may have to take out a loan because that is such a nice car, especially after having the chance to ride in it.
