try MAJOR damage to front and back. Car was salvaged and the low estimate to fix (if one did all the work) was over $10k.
Sorry-$30k for a salvaged (or even rebuilt title) CSI is WAY too much...

oddly, the car was bought by someone in Indiana for a total of $23,500...

...was it you moonslook?

The auction closed at $20,400, the final cost to the buyer will be about $23,500. The mileage was 35.9xx

Not that I´m a proffesional but I can`t see this one fixed with 10k... looks more like a parts car.... Then again if the rear cage is good and if the damage is only cosmetical and if the shell is straight..

still not worth north of $20k..........

I think it is gonna be shipped to russia, these cars are still worth BIG money there..and is it worth it for an auto frame tech who has all the parts and a shop to pay 20 k for it come on guys.... every single one of us (8 owners-not csi's) hopes and wish to own a csi one day

The sport mirrors don't fold though, right? I had considered them at one point, but I like having the option to fold them down. :)

I don't know why you guys so mad, if a man needs a kidny or a heart and he got one from the organs bank does it mean he should die or never go to work or don't walk....doesn't make any sense .
now ,here we are saving one of the very RARE CSI's in this nation from being salvaged or junked and all the f'ers on this forum who are being a/holes can only wish and dream to get one.otherwise why the heck they were watching it and some of them were bidding too. and they have to know and remember that half of the car on the street has been into wrecks, even if a piece of paper called title says clean or rebuilt.same f'ers were looking at copart too should look how many cars the auction sells every day with clean titles even though they are f'd up.

i don't know why you are so angry about this obvious subject.
it is like the million dollar collectors stamp. once a tooth is broken ,
the stamp will be worth the paper it was printed on

first of all we aren't a bunch of "f'ers". This CSi was very closely watched for the sole reason of seeing how high it would go. I stopped bidding at $7000, which for me was my cut-off point of what I was "willing" to pay. My objective was not to eventually drive a CSi, but rather part that car out and hopefully get the investment back + some. I would rathe rdrive my plain-jane no-wreck Ci than a wrecked and repaired CSi - but that is just me.

X2 that... even though it is sort of funny to call a 850 'plain jane'.
in a way at least

To each his own. It's just the money/value thing that I was commenting on and what the end value would be. Insurance for one, from what I understand, on a salvage title is a problem, as is resale value. It's a shame the car was totalled. The question in my mind is would it be worth saving, or building another car with a non-salvage title be better off. It has value without a doubt. We've seen CSI's with 45,000 miles or so going for $45,000 or so.
Does my opinion make me an a/hole or a f'er? That's pretty heavy.

rod ,
to each his own that is absolutely right , but the one thing that pisses me off that one of the guys who replied to this post was the one who was bidding on this csi (not TX) and he went all the way up to 19600 but he didn't get it and it was sold for 19700 plus auction fee it came up to 20015, now since he didn't get it , it became a piece of junk but if he would've got then it would've been a diamond rock.
I said some of the f'ers and a/holes not all the f'ers and a/holes and whoever is one knows himself.

Perhaps it was a sort of morbid curiosity to see what it would bring in the end, but it was also from being a part of the threads over on RF that were initiated by the owner that wrecked it. He was a real sport over all I'd say. As to being a CSI wannabe, nah.. not really at all. I own and am part of the global E31 community and I'll have my share of individuality with this car, probably being one of around 2 dozen 840/6's in the country and even then not just the same as those.... plenty good enough for me. Puts me in yer f'er category then so be it.

I wish my car was a CSI... no doubt about it. No doubt about the fact that in all probability I will remain just that ... a wannabe... sigh.
No worries Moonslook, the whole thing was and is out of my finaincial realm anyways. If I'd have known someone in here had bought it or was bidding on it, I can only hope, all I would have said was good for him and good luck.

You can't import ANY spec 850CSi into Canada unless it meets the 15 year rule (and I'd check on that to be sure as well). It's specifically mentioned as non-admissible by RIV.

Wuffer

Correct - and the 15 year rule may not apply as well.
We will find out by the end of the year.
