I'm going to be buying some OEM Xenon headlights and I found some with a broken tab. The seller says that the broken tab does not affect anything and has posted a picture of the broken tab. I'm a bit suspicious.

So my question is, what is broken in the picture? And is the seller being honest about it not affecting anything?

I think the dealer is right.
e39dream has intimate knowledge about the headlight assembly and would be the one to ask.

Looks like the bulb was held in by ducK tape.

This is where the turn signal bulb goes and if the tab doesn't break on the housing, the squeeze tabs on the socket break. It is not a game breaker. Install a brand new lamp, push the socket into whatever is left and use a dab of silicon to keep it there. When and if you need to remove it, the silicon will readily let go. If that is all that's wrong, I would not let this break the deal.
