Does anyone know of any good scenic roads to go driving on? I'm from Northern NJ and I'm really bored. :(

Look at my last post in the thread "NW NJ GTG's" . . . mostly Warren County, about an hour west of Nutley (sorry, forum rules won't let me post the URL)

Other recommendation would be northern Sussex County roads.. Clove road north of 206 to Port Jervis is nice. Its like a roller coaster.

Just be aware of (and slow down in) residential areas where ever you are since NJ is so densly populated.

Old Mine road by the delaware water gap. It's about a 45-60 minute ride if you stay on it all the way to the tristates area (ie. ny, nj & pa)

Well, thanks. Yes, the palisades are nice and every so often I do head up through Sussex. Sucks though cause usually when I'm up there I'm snowboarding and cops seem to be dicks around there...I've yet to drive to Bear Mtn. in my car; it should be really fun this spring though.

if you have a weekend to spare... i would suggest NY RT17/I86 from Harriman to Binghamton. very scenic. rated america's most scenic highway way back when.

again watch out for the police though. i almost got pulled over a few times driving it. those NYS highway patrol troopers drive really cool cars!

X2 - The worst spot for police is right around Liberty. They are very unforgiving.

Newark and Elizabeth is a fun ride with the windows down anytime of the year.

Try RT 29 from Trenton north. Here is a description from Wiki:

Route 29 is a state highway in the U.S. state of New Jersey. It runs 34.76 miles from an intersection with Interstate 295 in Hamilton Township in Mercer County (where it continues as Interstate 195) to Bridge Street / Race Street in Frenchtown, in Hunterdon County, where the road continues on as CR 513.

The scenic and mostly two-lane highway follows the Delaware River in mostly rural sections of Mercer County and Hunterdon County. The obsolete Delaware & Raritan Canal usually stands between the river and the highway. Most sections of Route 29 are completely shaded due to the tree canopy.

That's our cruise route. Up Route 29 North to Frenchtown and cross into PA and down 32 South to I95 to oxford valley mall.

Harriman Park (7 lakes drive) has a couple of side roads that are just prime form some spirited driving - tight turns, elvation changes, & great scenery (though not very long all together).
Just be careful going through Sloatsburg - as cops are DICKS there.. also, best bet is to go during the week so you can have the roads to yourself.

Blvd. East in Weehawken has the best views of the NYC skyline.......
