my airbag light shot on the other night and I'm trying to avoid paying $70 to have the code read. Anybody local have one I could use? Or could help me read the code? I'm willing to pay. (just not $70 :) )
Thanks. -Aaron

If you just want the code read and cleared we could do it for $52, that includes reading the code and some basic test procedures with rec on how much time is need to get the correct answer. Or if you just want them cleared that is included in the fee.

Oh okay, I appreciate the offer. I was more hoping someone owned a Peake tool or had access to a code reader and would let me use it, or if they wanted compensation throw them like $20. If not I'll have to buckle down and take the shaft from my local indy. Thanks!

Ouch thats pretty harsh do you have any idea of the cost of business to run a full auto shop?

I'm sure it's quite a bit, but that doesn't make my wallet anymore anxious to pay if I can avoid it. The Peake tool is like $110, and if I had one I would let someone local use it, thats all. No need to take it personal. I'm not trying to be harsh, just trying to continue my quest as a diy'er which is why I visit BFc.

No problem, I just get a bit sensitive with people saying we rip them off thats all. Good luck with the E36, sounds like you found someone with the peake tool. If it is a seat belt tensioner code clean the connection with stabilant 22a ($30) a bottle and clear the code that takes car of 75% of those codes.

Thank you for the advice Seth. If things get out of hand, I will give your shop a call. :)

I also have the SRS Airbag reset tool if needed. I asked around a while back and no one locally had one so I ended up buying one.
