Saturday June 21 through Sunday June 22, 2008: Sponsoring Chapter: National BMW CCA Club Racing Schools
This is a Driving Concepts Racing/Competition Licensing School. Registration and payment can be done online at www.drivingconcepts.com (http://www.drivingconcepts.com/) with a fee of $495.
This is an intense two-day program for high performance driving students who have successfully completed not less than 10 days of instructed high performance schools and are ready to go to the next step of head/to/head competition. Students will have four sessions on track each day and will be in the classroom at all other times . On-track exercises are designed to give students experiential training in the craft of successfully driving a race car, how to handle traffic, green flag rolling starts, vehicle dynamics, mental challenges and a number of ‘practice races’ – all within safety guidelines established by the managing instructors. Classroom time is spent in group evaluations and problem solving as well as dealing in depth with the mental preparation necessary to be a successful, safe competitor. Sections of the classroom address car prep, budget considerations, and expected behavior both on and off the track.
A race prepared car is NOT necessary for the school but safety is mandatory. This school has been conducted on the West Coast since 1999 without a single metal/to/metal incident. Guidelines are set up in the classroom and monitoring by the instructor team is challenging but strict for everyone’s benefit.
Managing instructors include seasoned race car drivers with backgrounds in BMW Club Racing, NASA, The American Lemans Series, Grand Am, SCCA, Porsche Club Racing, IMSA, and feature podium holders from Lemans. Each school will have guest instructors who are graduates of the program who share their more recent experiences.
Driving Concepts Intl. does not issue a license but is officially recognized by BMW CCA Club Racing. Questions about the program can be addressed to: Judy@drivingconcepts.com (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/mailto:Judy@drivingconcepts.com) or by calling Judy Ray at 949 212 9339 Cell or 714 835 3171 Crevier BMW.

Registration Date is not known yet.

Hmm, I'm definitely interested in this. I don't have the time to do Club Racing, but I would love to go to a racing school with my e36.

I think it would be a good step for me. I've done events at Willow Springs, Buttonwillow, Thunderhill, Sears Point, and Laguna Seca, and have done very well with the car. Now it's time to be humbled. :buttrock

Luckily for me, if I ever wanted to do club racing with my car, a lot of the stuff has already been done. But that still means I'd need to drop the equivalent of the cost of a kidney to get the car ready. :rofl

Absolutely! Even if you have no plans on ever racing it's well worth it and will entirely change your driving experience from then on.

Please, that's a weak excuse. Just join the rest of us in the one-kidney club!

Wow, you still have one? I'm impressed...that's not all I'm missing. Especially after blowing the motor last year than moving to prepared (and I did it on the cheap).

And, if for some reason, you can't get your kidney sold in time, there's a Club Racing School in August, that coincides with the Golden Gate Chapter weekend at Thunderhill.

I go in for removal surgery about 6 weeks prior. I figure that should be plenty of recovery time :)

:rofl How about I concentrate on kicking butt in school so that I can become a doctor and pay off all of my student loans to be able to one day, at the age of 55, have time to do club racing? :dunno :stickoutt

School? Doctor? Student loans?

Bah, someone needs their priorities re-aligned :D

Jim - luckily started all this during the "tech boom"

Unfortunately I'm neither independently wealthy or the next Michael Schumacher. :(

Which weekend, the Aug THill deal? I don't think we're close to working out the logistics of that yet. We still need to get through the Sears school this weekend
and the one-day at LS in June.

You can check with the DEC, but Mark will probably tell you the same :)

Neither is a requirement :)

(Came >*< this close to selling the race car during the "bust" and subsequent 2 years of unemployment. I'm feeling better now :) )

I also don't have a real job. :rofl I work on people's cars for money during winter/spring/summer breaks. I need a degree, to get a job, to make monies, to buy things, like a house and a race car. :buttrock

What you can't read my mind? :rolleyes

I meant the June one on planet earth (well, Buttonwillow anyway), not ThunderfromdownunderHill. Need a free gas card to get there! :D

We usually have a decent number of vultures... err, I mean "instructors" at the race schools, but email Judy at DCI to double check as it gets closer. I'll let you know when the call comes out for help, if you like.

Yeah, I like. Thx. :buttrock

Otherwise the race car is just going to sit in the garage from the WS club race on due to scheduling conflicts...

Apparently I lack that ability with all people whose names begin with "K".

You should see a professional about that. It's not like it is a long read or anything...more like a short story. Haiku even.

Funny, that's what my wife ("Kim" <- get it? Haha. Oh, nevermind) says.

I was going to sell the other one but the guys said the dialysis machine would not fit in the race car.

You get more money for your "nuts", and after three kids I don't think I need more than one just to kick it now and then.
I definetely recommend you that school, it's great, that's how I got my license.
