View Full Version : Took Delivery of my E91
I finally took delivery of my 328 Wagon. Crimson Red, 6spd, sports, heated seats, ipod, xenon.
When I ordered the car I ordered a set of floor mats and a set of winter mats to keep the Iowa winter grime off my brand new $40,000 car's carpet. For some reason 10 weeks wasn't enough time for the dealer to get the floor mats ordered.
I was also a little PO'd that the dealer didn't even call me when my car arrived. I called them and the car had already been there for a couple days. Salesman said he had my cell # written down wrong, although he had called me a couple weeks before hand.
The salesman told me about three times that BMW was going to call with a survey and it was very very important that I give them the highest rating. What do you guys think? Did you take the survey?
As for the car it is awesome. I love everything about it except for the wet muddy carpet.

mryakan 03-02-2008, 02:01 AM Congrats, haven't seen e91 pics on here. Looks nice, is the roof rack factory or dealer installed?
ncsucarjock88 03-02-2008, 03:29 AM Not only would i rate them poorly in the survey, I'd be speaking to the general manager of the dealership, reporting them to the regional rep for BMW, and telling all of the forums the name of this dealership (and sales guy) so that we can stay away.
At least...that's what I would do.

I'm not that mean. The guy was nice and easy to deal with negotiation wise. I just thought it was pretty lame that they didn't get the floor mats there with the car. The dealer is a 60 mile round trip from my place so I am at least going to have them UPS the mats to my place, if they can't do that they are getting a low rating, if they can I will give them an average rating.
The roof rack is stock. I plan on keeping the car mostly stock. I was thinking blacked out grill in the front, light tint for road trips, and a euro switch.
psucelticXI 03-02-2008, 05:48 PM That looks sweet... Feel free to post more pics.

ditto. you should be treated MUCH better when busting 40 large for a new car. they dropped the ball and BMW needs to know about it. they always say to rate them highly so they won't get busted. i would be very angry if my car had been sitting there without a call and no mats by now. what a bunch of bozos. :ak
yes, and talk to the GM in person or by phone.
beautiful wagon. red and white are my fav colors.
holy cow, 14 miles already! time for an oil change.

Thats what I was thinking on the 40 large thing. The guy didn't even really apologize about the mats. I also specifically requested them not to drill holes in my front bumper for plates. Actually I asked them three times. Of course they drilled the holes and mounted the plate mount.

Screw the floor mat situation, the front plate issue would have been the one to send me through the roof. That is totally unacceptable. How did you handle that one? I see no plate or bracket in the second set of pictures but not close up enough to tell if they are patched or what.
The three issues combined would (in my book) definitely warrant dropping their rating on the survey.

The deal on the plate bracket is that I wanted to mount it myself because I didn't want numb nuts at the dealer putting it on crooked or out of wack. I did plan on mounting it, but I figured it is 2 months before my plates arrive so I could at least rock a smooth bumper for the first 2 months of ownership. So that is why it isn't a big deal. It is a big screw up on their part regardless.
In the pic the plate holes are there, just small and low res.

Nice ride man. Yea, I would take the survey, and tell them how you feel. If they are not doing something right, then they need to know about it so that they can improve it. I got the floormats for free with my car. (They threw them in) You should tell them that, and hopefully they wont charge you.

I did negotiate in the mats, both regular and winter mats for free. Mainly disappointed on the lack of scheduling the mats to arrive before the car.

Gottcha. Good. Yea, I dont understand why they did that.

What's the Euro switch?
That dealership (Zimmerman BMW/Ford/Mitsubishi/Hyundai) is in fact one to avoid, too bad its the only BMW dealer around our parts of Iowa. Its located in a total dump of a city. Their salesmen & service writers dont see a difference between a customer spending 12k on a hyundai and 40k on a BMW.
I had to go for a computer reprogramming on my E46 and was treated very poorly. They had me set an appointment and show up on time (9am at that, a little after their service center opened), only to have my car sit there for 2 hours; when they get around to it, they do 20 minutes of work and charge me double what we had agreed on. Great way to have me come back....Have me wait way way beyond my appointment for what is essentially the simplest job a dealership tech can do (hook up big computer, navigate a menu, change a setting, reset ECU). Im also looking at a survey card, and they are getting bombed.
335iDriver 03-03-2008, 07:12 AM My experience with the sales guy (BMW of San Diego) was fine. I would never say it was perfect. Ultimately the price dictates that. The one thing BMW kept asking was to rate the highest possible and if it was less then to inform them of the issues. If I ordered a car, waited for the phone call and never got it, I would complain without a doubt. I did get floor mats thrown in and two key chains. I like the his/hers designated key fobs. Nice touch.
335iDriver 03-03-2008, 07:15 AM Hey 28,
Where have you stuffed all the cars you have? I would hope the BMW gets the garage each night.

haha, yea I wish it did too. There are two convertibles in the garage that sleep in the winter. I am working on erecting a 4 car garage this spring so that I can expand and cover my collection.
Hey max, you never told me about the 2 hour wait.
edit- I don't know much about the euroswitch, I just read one thread and it basically enables your rear fog light. I would use it primarily to scare off tail gaters (aka max)

There is a simple solution for tailgaters, it is the right most pedal. Just mash it to the ground and see them disappear in the distance :devillook.

I was looking at accessories online, and I guess they have carpet mats for $130 (with BMW logo), and rubber ones for more like $50. Which ones did the dealer throw in for you the rubber mats, or the carpet mats?
Abe986S 03-03-2008, 01:56 PM If you don't mind, what style Borbet wheels are they and what size tires? Same size front and rear or did you stagger them as the Sport Package does. Nice looking car.
Thanks,
Abe

I actually ordered both sets of floor mats and trunk mat.
the wheels are borbet Type CA 16", just a cheap rim to mount snow tires on, but they do look decent. I wouldn't mind getting some bmw center caps for them. They are pretty narrow and look funny in the rear, not staggered. I was thinking about getting some spacers to make them meet up flush with the fender lines.

Oh I thought you said you got them for free. Either way, I was just wondering which they were. The rubber or the carpet mats.

well, technically I paid for them because I negotiated them in with the car. $50 seems cheap for BMW winter mats and trunk liner
blkbmw3 03-03-2008, 06:36 PM congrats on the new car. Is that normal for the keys to be his and hers? or did you put a sticker on it? Kinda cool either way.
Cheers
dls56 03-04-2008, 07:56 PM Nice car. Enjoy your new ride. Rate the dealership commensurate with the service they provided. They'll have a reason to improve service that way.
mgthompson 03-05-2008, 02:45 PM Just after Christmas we picked up a new 328xi wagon in Monaco blue. Even with the run-flat all-season tires it really goes great in the snow.
