I was able to paired Motorola SLVR 7, but a V3xx always reboot during phone book transfer. I am planning on getting an iPhone in a few months. Hope this will work like SLVR.

are you pairing with a phone from the approved list?

There's a review of the Bluetooth compatibles on the upgraded www.BMWCCA.org site, for anyone who might be interested. Not terribly thorough, but suggests some of the most compatibles, as well as those to avoid (Samsung apparently does blow the I-Drive, not that this is an issue on Zs).

I have paired 4 different handsets with no problems ..blacberry, HTC, Motorola,Nokia ...

Sorry to hear your frustrations, but I've paired numerous phones with both my '07 Z4 and my '06 325i. It can work....and quite well at that.

Maybe just the phone?

if your car doesn't come with a very good list I suggest you talk with the head tech, or the person who knows most about it at the dealership. We had one hell of a time getting my dad's 6 series to pair. Problem was that there were very few phones that would pari up because of his build date. After trying two or three phones not on the list, I spoke to the head tech who recommended a phone that also wasn't on the list. It's been paired now for about 8 months without any issues.

I've managed to pair the follwing phones to my bluetooth kit: Nokia 6300, 5310, n95, sony ericsson: M600i, k750, w880, k610i, motorola pebbl, Bang and Oluf Serene. I work in telecoms so change my phone a lot...

There is also a software "update"... Check with your dealer and see if you're updated as it effected the general opperation.

My information says that I cannot have BMW assist activated if I'm using bluetooth and vice versa. Since I have BMW assist activated, I have not even tried to pair my phone. If you are using BMW Assist maybe that is the problem.

Every new car that has Assist, has a free one year contract. Don't you think those people would be mad if they couldn't use the bluetooth for a year?

Sorry to dissapoint but I am correct. I can only speak to the info on my 2005 Z4. Back then the modules supporting each function had to be changed out if you wanted one or the other. Later Z4s have a combo module so that you can use both. Not sure what year that began in, though.

Well, BMWUSA just confirmed that the Samsung Blackjack is not compatible with their system.

Oh well, at least my phone (a work freebie) works fine.

Not to torture you any more, but while the Blackjack is not "Approved" or "Supported", it does synch with my '07 Z4MC. It's the phone I am currently using. But....that said, since your car is an '04...maybe that's what's making the difference.

The phones that can sync change not just with the year but the month of production. Which is why while the phone works for you, it won't work for all.

Bluetooth in early E46's had the same problem, you had to choose. Your phone or your life...

make sure you have your bluetooth code that came with your car. You will need that to pair your phone. if its not working then your code might be wrong.
