I go to school in downtown Chicago and today I simply get an itch to go cruising. Because my rents live in Libertyville (north east burbs) I decided to go out there and say hi. On my way back to the city going south on I94 right before the Ohio exit I see a brand new bright blue Civic Si that wants to make the Ohio St exit also. When the right lane opens up he all of the sudden dives for it as he is already in first from slow traffic, so I decide to do the same. What you need to know is that the south bound Ohio St exit is a really fun tight s-curve that a lot of cars take fast. By the time we hit the turn we are going around 45-50mph and he starts to get loose and that is when I blow by him on the outside lane going around 60-65mph.

Needless to say I was disapointed in how the Si handles! I thought they were great track cars for what they are! Oh well, one more civic kill under my belt!

Cliffs- I beat a Civic Si in the twisties with my Dinan race springs, Blstn shocks, Turner strut tower braces, and Racing Dynamics sway bars. I assume he was stock judging by how new his car was.

Driver skill/cojones probably had more to do with this than anything. Civic Si's actually handle pretty decent. But it sounds like you had fun.

Ya def. Im not not afraid to get loose a little cause one of the most amazing things about e30s is their driveability! If they do get loose simply let off the gas and they snap right back! They really make drivers look good (especially with a setup like mine!:buttrock)

Gotta love the E30! But the fact that a FWD Civic was "loose" would indicate some serious driver error. (maybe lift throttle oversteer) And not to nitpick, but don't get too used to the whole "let off the gas" technique when your car oversteers. This could have some negative consequences to say the least.

I think he may have over corrected for the turn and that made him understeer which is why he must have backed off. I realize that my setup is halfway decent, but still I would have expected him to keep up better. As for as "letting off the gas", I never go %100 on and %100 off if my car starts to oversteer. I understand that could make the situation worse. However the more sideways I get the more fun it is!:buttrock Luckily I didnt brake loose here tho cause I was going really fast for the turn and Im not a good enough driver to have corrected for it judging by my speed!

I wish I were a better driver to be able to do a controled drift tho!:( The guys that can do it are bamf!:eyecrazy

driver kill, civic si with a little left foot braking could probably out speed you through that fun s curve. Just takes balls and know how to do it right. And go find an empty parking lot to play with your E30 in if you want to learn to control it sideways and slide it right. If you don't know how to "perform a controlled drift" go learn and practice a bit losing and regaining control purposely so that when your rwd car slips out form behind you, you know exactly what to do. They just built a park that isn't opened yet by me, and it has a massive parking lot since it's between a highschool neighborhood and a middleschool one, and it is still closed off to the public, but has a 1/8th mile straight on the backside to the courts, up to a huge kink/ double s, then empties into the parking lot, I usually hit the lot side about like this / / doing 90 or so then let loose sliding around for a while. Always fun. Sadly I think it will be open end of march
