I recently purchased the above mentioned car and have a question for the experts on here about a problem I have noticed that is driving me nuts. I have noticed a low frequency humming noise that goes up and down in volume when the X5 is at idle. The level of the noise is such that it interferes with listening to the radio and seems to be associated with a slight vibration that can be felt in the steering wheel. The going up and down in volume is not associated with any change in the engine and cannot be heard outside the car. Once the RPMs get above 1,000, the noise goes away. Any thoughts on what this could be or anyone else with this car notice the same thing?

I understand I have a warranty, but would rather have some idea of what might be the cause so that I do not show up at the dealership and get the usual excuse that they could not duplicate the problem.
