Guys,

What are some 'other' reputable tuning shops that focus on BMW in the area?

I have been using TMS in Amesbury, MA for some time and they are awesome...but expensive, and they don't do much with F/I and I'm looking for some diversity.

Schneller BMW near TMS has installed quite a few FI cars. Check them out.

Diy??? :dunno

Especially if you are talking SC - Since AA, ESS, VF and the others make VERY comprehensible kits for people to DIY with.

If you're gonna do Dinan, I personally wouldn't go through Concord. Their mechanic, Jody, has been half-assing installs lately from what I hear. I would go through Dan Kermin, he was the original New England Dinan representative. I can give you his info if you decide to go the Dinan route. My dad will be going through Dan when he eventually gets his Dinan S2 E46 s/c'd and upgraded to an S3. Dan has an S3 already, putting out 610hp.

Marc Feinstein 617 349-2993

He used to be the main racing mechanic at Turner (TMS)
Great guy, fahtastic prices.

Honest, fast and goes the extra mile for his customers.

Hmmm , there are always different opinions ... :) ...
I have been very happy with Concord Motorsport in the past (and they did
not even do my Dinan work ...)
Just for considerations remember Dan has not left on the best terms
when he worked for Concord ...
There's also a thread about his current business at

Not sure how much truth there's to it though ....

Wow I have never heard about any of that, I'll have to ask my dad about it. Was Dan the mechanic they were talking about? I have known Dan to be nothing but helpful, and the work he has done on my father's car has been amazing. He even replaced my MAF for me for a little over $200.

I wish. I've only recently been biten by the bug...I have no garage, tools, little experience, live IN Boston, and love my car too much to be responsible for breaking it. ;)

Someday I will build a garage and jump into DIY stuff...not for a while though.

There are plenty of people here that would be happy to help. A buddy of mine owns a shop that we could use.

You could see if dave on e46 fanatics is interested in a SC install, I'd trust his help.

Honestly I was going to buy an ESS TS2 for my E46 (before I decided to sell it) and was going to do it myself over a couple days at my friend's shop.

I'm sure that with your car, the SC kit, and some beers and pizza we could get that thing in there no problem.

Search on E46 fanatics about some of the installs guys did. It isn't that hard. I'd try the community first before rushing to go pay someone. I haven't put a blower in a car yet, but tend to do a bit of work myself (suspension, electrical, etc etc) and would be glad to help you.

Sounds good, but a long way off 'till I would be ready for that.

If you are interested in an AA turbo or centrifugal kit, its New England representative, Marco, marc1119, might be persuaded to do an install at his house in MA. He used to own a shop and has installed a number of FI kits. Feel free to PM him and use my name, Philip, as an introduction -- he installed my Vortech kit in his garage.
