if you're planning to keep it for years, get the sedan. Coupes have more problems with seals and latches and wind noise.

If you don't have a real reason to need the extra two doors, by all means get the coupe.

328i has the option with sport package which makes the car sit lower. Its a bit lighter.

insurance will be cheaper on sedan vs coupe.

If you know you dont need use of the back seat then coupe. I myself got it as a semi-family car because i drive my grandma and mom around. Would be a hassle having them try get in the back.

coupe all the way. i think the back seat is actually better in the coupe than sedan if you are only taking 2 ppl. also, coupes are a lot younger looking. I take 4 people in my ci all the time, and everyone who rides in it likes it.

Coupe..looks way more sporty. If you do get a sedan, get the facelifted one.

I decided to buy the sedan after driving both. Coupes are pointless. If you're going to deal with two doors you might as well get a roadster.

i would have gotten a Z3 3.0, but i need the trunk space, yet don't want 4 doors. thats enough to make coupes not "pointless".

I chose a coupe and wish I'd gotten a 4-door. Performance is the same if you get the sport package. I'm often forced to park in crowded parking lots; when I do, it's a lot easier to get in and out of a 4-door than a coupe with its longer two doors. Plus, you have fewer worries about windows getting messed up (like when you open the door and the window drops, but doesn't go up) and window seals.

i've honestly never had a problem in parking lots. its not like its a 73 el camino with 6ft long doors! window seals are an easy fix, and coupes just plain look better.

sedan all the way. i think the lines flow a lot better. especially the line across the side to the tail lights. plus sedans handle better. or so ive heard.

you wont be disappointed with the coupe, plus there are less of them on the road. I see e46 sedans everywhere I look and it pisses me off. Plus the interior is nicer and they look sportier.

I heard that people with the coupe have more problems then the sedans. They have problems with wiring, door panels, and a guy said he brought a coupe and he found out that frame was split. Anyone who has a coupe could you tell me about the problems you have had.

I always felt the sedans were much more solid. I've owned and driven both for well over 100K and the body of the sedan seemed to hold up to abuse better than the coupe. I also like the black trim on the sedans. Get what you want but either way your wallet is going on a crash diet.

If you plan on keeping it a forever I would go with the sedan. They are much more versatile for trips and taking friend along. If it’s just for pure short term driving and only need to haul a chick then coupe. Really up to you.

The sedan(or saloon as it is called in UK), looks like a boring old family car. It is tall, fat and frumpy looking, and rarely attracts admiring glances.
The coupe is very slightly longer and wider but visibly lower and more sleek looking. To me it is far more desirable.

Nobody can tell me they don't like sedans for any reason besides looks. Pointless.

That's because looks is the only reason you would go for a coupe over a sedan. If you need the easier access to the rear seats, or you frequently park in crowded parking lots, or don't want to deal with higher wind noise (due to the single seal of the window), or you want a more tonsionally rigid car, then you get the sedan. If you don't like the looks of the sedan, then you get the coupe, and live with the downsides.

the latch for the folding rear seats is rattling in mine - the dealer has agreed to replace at next service.

front speaker grill rattles - has been padded several times but still unresolved.

otherwise, its held up great. another couple differences to consider: the coupes all have folding rear seats as standard (option was quite rare on sedans), all coupes have sport suspensions which are lower and firmer.

Yeah, I used to live in TX, where everything is bigger (including the parking spaces). Bring your ass to northern VA and park in some of the parking spaces we have around here. While the coupe might look a little better, not the worth the hassle IMHO.

Heck, I'd consider trading someone my 330ci for their 330i, assuming it was in similar condition and a decent color (2002+, 46k miles, excellent condition inside and out, sport package, manual, Topaz Blue Metallic, Green, or Red exterior)
