The seller was really cool, he worked with me so I could get ballasts for the 9006 harness and H1s for the fogs. If you have any doubt / questions / skepticism towards HID lamps, talk to me! I'm very pleased with the results, I just can't wait to get them fully installed and test them out!
:buttrock
I hope someone enjoyed 'em.
jcraig 02-25-2008, 07:52 PM man that makes me wanna go ahead and do the fogs. that looks sick

Jigga-wha? Sure you can. I mean yeah it'll cut the fogs off when you flash em, but these come on and off very quickly and cleanly.

Thanks! I'll be honest here...I just wanted them up and running so I bought the cheapest kit off of eBay, but, to be honest, the quality is equal to that of the $250 McCulloch kit that I bought last spring. Here (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-1751-2978-71/1?AID=5463217&PID=2518995&loc=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Febaymotors%2Fws%2F eBayISAPI.dll%3FViewItem%26viewitem%3D%26item%3D18 0217078339)'s what I got. The seller was really cool, and communicated well to make sure I got the right parts.
As for mounting them...I know I've got the space near by, I just need to work things out. This weekend I'll probably take the bumper off for an easy install.

That's what I was thinking too... I mean, it does take a sec for the HIDs to come back on, but so?
Do you get a Fog Light Error with this kit? I'm thinking about this one, but also a GB that's going on in the lighting forum looks pretty good for $135 w/ Prolumen bulbs. Ballasts are "economy" but they have a 1 year warranty, so meh.
MaxSteel 02-25-2008, 11:28 PM Was the plug in the ballast for a 9006 plug? Did you have to splice in the 9006 harness or is there a kit where you can plug in the stock harness?

Nope no error at all! I was really happy about that too. I kept getting the F/Fog error since my bulbs were unplugged, but once they're installed for good, I'll have my dash display back, and error free.
Yeah go for that deal if you want, I don't think you can go wrong. I use my fogs a fair amount but not all the time, so I think the ballasts should last a while.

Yeah it was, no splicing work needed, all plug and play. Again, I talked to the guy before I bought the kit, I asked for 9006 Ballasts and H1 bulbs. Everything came 3 days later and it all worked out. :redspot
RVAE34 02-26-2008, 12:06 AM Looks great!!!! Thanks for finally posting a pic of the 3k fogs. I have been waiting to see these on an E34 forever!!!

The fogs aren't 9006 plugs...?

Haha no problem, remember it was you that inspired me to get that hot cut-off going with them. Glad you like it, would you like to see some steamy night shots...
... of the fogs?
The fogs aren't 9006 plugs...?
Nah, they're aftermarket projectors that take H1 bulbs. I liked the look of them on a fellow member's car (I forget the name, Aussie with a great blue 535i) and so I grabbed some.
4500 RPM 02-26-2008, 01:13 AM It looks like a lot of glare, which is what even projector fogs are designed to do, disperse light all around the ground/front of car.
That's why I don't have HID fogs, you can't run them without extreme glare. I already feel bad enough with my Euro ellip/HID setup.
Sam Son 02-26-2008, 01:27 AM Jigga-wha? Sure you can. I mean yeah it'll cut the fogs off when you flash em, but these come on and off very quickly and cleanly.....
yeah? thats contrary to what Ive heard but ok if you say so
GlittermekaiN 02-26-2008, 01:29 AM Ohhhh. Very nice.

$25 for the lights, and $50 for shipping? I find that kind of game playing to be annoying. Even eBay warns sellers when they charge outrageous shipping. The "low" selling price makes it appear cheaper when you sort by price, but the shipping has more profit for him than from the item itself. While it may not be enough for me to not place an order, it still stinks. It knocks him down a few notches on the "honesty meter" in my book. :nono

Yeah it was nuts, but again, I just want these fogs running, and I had the money for it. I know I'm still buying a cheap kit, but the seller insists on 2-3 day shipping which is why the shipping is as much as it is.
BTW...when I said honest...I was the one admitting that the kit was comparable to my high-end low beam kit. I have respect for the seller, as he communicated well, worked with me, sent them fast, the kit worked fine, and now LBF messages! :redspot
I respect what you're saying though. Those were my criticisms that kept me from buying from eBay for my low beams, but since I have really reliable headlights, I was okay with getting a cheaper lamp kit, since I don't technically need my fogs at night.
clevertd 02-26-2008, 05:31 PM When the t-stars gonna be put on?
525fourthew1n 02-26-2008, 05:39 PM Heh heh tomorrow afterschool, my friend. They're already balanced and sitting in a local shop, but they were busy today so I'll have them throw em on when the car is on the lift. I can't wait! You in Raleigh anytime soon?
clevertd 02-26-2008, 06:25 PM Yup, I'll be here until Saturday night. Driving back to Charlotte then, getting my parents car and driving to Ft. Lauderdale, then to the Bahamas for Spring break!:boobies
525fourthew1n 02-27-2008, 12:12 AM Nice, I really look forward to seeing the car on friday or whenever. I'll try to mount up the ballasts tomorrow or surrrsday, weather permitting.
The down side: these ballasts don't have any holes to use screws when mounting, but I think it'll work out
Testercles 03-08-2008, 09:59 AM My fogs stay on when my high beams are on, and when the high beams are flashed. Do they turn off when the highs are active in the US?
