Hah, considering the cars I owned when I was 16, I had owned my first car for a full year at that point, and it was still before I started working on cars...

Dude, my first car was a 1980 Mercury Zephyr. It was horrible grey flaking paint with vinyl interior. It almost never ran (thank god) and I ended up junking it for like $25. I paid $67 for it and only drove it around my neighborhood. I used it for BB target practice.

If you can afford to buy the bmw, it'll teach to you to work on a nice car, and hopefully it'll teach you to appreciate having nice things. Not to say you don't already, but we've all been young.

Go buy it man, and enjoy.

does anyone know what the name of those rims are that are on the green 525i that i originally posted? they are a gunmetal looking color in person.

haha. i know where your coming from seeing as i own some pos '89 honda civic hatchback as my first car. i've had it since i was 16 the engine is pristine which is why we originally bought it, but i want to move on to bigger and better things. I will be taking great care of this car if purchased, cross the fingers.

How can you not like the wood trim of a bmw? Thats one of the many things that makes it better then any jap or american car.

hello hi hey

those wheels would, and do look so clean on the e34's. that would make your car look so nice.

i think the difference maker is age. how old are you? coming from the perspective of a teenager, i would rather go with a nice black, something plain/basic. but, that being said, i know what you are talking about with the whole seperation idea.

tonyroc14
02-24-2008, 11:30 PM
i personally like the rims that are on that thing now. Im a teenager and i like the wood, and i also like the idea of a solid color, witch is why im considering covering the trim in some biege suede. I would go for it man, but you should have at least 2 g's left over to cover anything that you may need, parts wise, im assuming you'll do the work yourself.

That looks like a very nice car. Those are gunmetal Mille Miglia wheels. "kesslerbmw" had them on his black E34(s).

Spot-on.

Especially with the Parchment interior. It ties it together so nicely.

Parchment in particular looks AWFUL without wood trim. Dove and black interiors can pull off blacked-out (think piano finish) wood.

No offense, but that would look terrible. You want a CONTRASTING color, not the same color.

It's good design. Just like how black moldings looks good on these cars.

I'm 17 and one of the things i love about my 540 is the dark burl walnut mixed with the silver gray leather which in my mind makes the perfect contrast for an interior. I like it much more then that plastic and leather combination in my 928

That is a very nice contrast.

Have you seen what RVAE34 did with his wood? Blacking it out? That would look tits on Dove. Not that the stock burled walnut looks bad...

oh, well its got biege interior, i was thinking black shuede, but i thought it would be too drastic, i guess i could try both fabrics up againts the dash and what not, and see what eles i could paint black, or cover in shuede. But imo i like the wood, and im gonna keep it. I want to fix the headliner before anything.

see, the black doesn't look that bad.....but with beige, black, and a green exterior? no thanks. i would rather have the wood. i never said it was bad, i just wouldn't have chosen it.

It's Alcantara Suede, common in newer e46's, some m5's, etc.

Absolutely do it yourself. You'll shit when you see a custom shop's bill for something as simple as this.

Thats probably the only pic of my interior I have, sorry.

Exactly.

It's a luxury sedan. Needs wood.

I'm right there with you. Nothing beats real wood (I know it's a veneer but still). I would really love a wood steering wheel like Jags, Benzes, Lexuses, etc. have.

Yes! Me too ive seen a few come up on ebay for like $500 but i just cant seem to justify spending that much on a steering wheel maybe someday idk though. Your car looks great btw

I don't think the door and dash inserts are veneer, even the shifter surround in my car is a slice of wood.

Hmmm...I had always thought it was a thin veneer over metal. It would make sense if it were solid wood...

At least it's not from the finest plastic forests! :)

city lights, parking lights, running lights. Pick one! And smokeing them isnt too expensive, but i would personaly go with the euro lights, and smoking the tail lights.

If you can afford to take care of it then I say go for it. The car looks very clean. Just make sure you really look it over. I'd say the most important things to look for is rust, a bad transmission, and a leaky head gasket. If those all check out then you will have yourself a seemingly ballin ride.:redspot

veneer?

its not veneer.

coming from experience from someone who took their own interior pieces out to paint them, the pieces are real wood. sand the clear part off and you can still smell their rainforest freshness

EDIT: argh It was already answered, I stand corrected

but yes, theyre real wood.
