I'm here in Cinci, but what exactly will take place at the meeting? (I'm a new BMW owner!)

Starscream,

I have not been to a meeting in Cinci, but their chapter is supposed to be very organized and plan a variety of fun events. They had Mike Valentine come and speak at a previous meeting. I heard that was very informative!

Our CCA meetings in Columbus normally consists of meeting at a restaurant for food and drinks then talking while we look at the cars in the parking lot. (I am curious to see how the Cinci meetings are held). Also, the people at the meetings tend to be laid back, friendly and performance minded.

I believe they are cooking out at the May meeting. Stop by for some food and meet some fellow BMW owners. :D

We can arrange to all caravan down. I don't know how many cars there will be. Thought it would help to post it here. ;)

The Columbus meeting will be on May 21st at the Pig Iron off High Street south of Worthington.

Here are pictures I took at the last gathering. Most pictures of the darker cars did not turn out well.

I may stop by...I actually worked at Just BMW last summer. It's basically just grilling out, meeting people, and checking out the cars.

Renee,
I'd be intrested in a caravan down there that day.... what time are we expecting to leave C-bus at? I can make that whole day open.

Randy,

I don't have a time set yet. I may also have the day free. I guess we need to consider the schedule of the other people who want to go. :D So far, we are the only ones who posted here though.

I'm in Wilmington... I could try and catch you all when you pass by...

... hehe... "sitting on the exit ramp, like a cat ready to pounce..."

Renee... what time is the Columbus meet? Same?

BTW... I've been meaning to sign up for BMWCCA... if I do... what chapter would I join?

Renee M Coupe

The Columbus meeting starts at 7:30. Look for the large group on the patio. :D

When you join the CCA, you will receive Buckeye chapter info (all of Ohio).

http://www.bmwcca.org/
http://www.buckeyebmwcca.org/

We will figure out the time once we figure out who is leaving from C-bus.

Hello,

Well I am from Cincinnati, and I will be there. I am not a member of the CCA but maybe I will be able to join that evening. I have been meaning to look into joining just never have done it. I don't drive an M Coupe but I can represent the 4 door sedans lol. If starscream is there I know atleast 2, 4 doors are there. Anyhow count atleast one more in, maybe 2 if my friend has his car back.

I am glad this message is reaching new people. John thought it would help boost membership.

I mention 4 M Coupes since we are in the minority. Dennis, Mike and John are the only other M Coupe drivers I have ever met in person.

I'm definitely familiar with both Kenwood and Clifton. I'm from Wyoming, if you guys know where that is. 15 or 20 minutes from both of you. I'm wrapping up finals right now (at Indiana) and should be home tomorrow. Good ole Nati:redspot
Hope to see you both at the CCA meeting if you can make it! Let me know if you need any help with directions.

Randy,

What does your schedule look like for Wed? I was thinking about heading down in the afternoon to check out some scenic spots. Can you leave in the afternoon?

Anyone else from Columbus headed down?

I have been trying out my new photography toy. It is a universal mount, it acts like a tripod mounted on the car (camera outside the car). I really need to use it as a passenger rather than a driver. :devillook I think I could get some really good shots with at least 2 cars and 3 people.

Renee,
I have some things to take car of early in the day, I have to go see Chris about getting a new exhaust (finally), then I have to go with my roomate to check out a set of rims he's picking up, but after that I'm free. I'm thinking I'll be done around 1 or 2ish. I'll pm you with my cell# so that way you can call me.

I know the Cinci area pretty well, so if you are looking for some good spots for shoots I'll take you around some good areas.

BTW, who else is going from Columbus that can make it down with us? We need to set up a place to meet up.

Aaron,

The mount is not top quality, but it is inexpensive. I would recommend also shopping for suction cup mounts. I wish this extended further from the car in order to get more of the car and wheel.

You should have seen me driving around Sunday with my huge digital camera mounted to the car! I got some strange looks, but with my car, I am used to it. :D

Randy,

2:00 - 2:30 would work for me! We can beat the traffic and get some pictures.

I made it to the Dent'Dyno day in Colombus last month, and met a few people, I hope to meet a few more tonight. Have a good one everyone.

Despite the rain, it was a good time! When we first arrived at the BMW shop (a bit early), what was sitting there....an M1!!:buttrock I will post pictures tomorrow.

There was also an E30 M3 with an E36 engine swap. Very nice! 4 M Coupes (should have been 6, 2 people did not drive theirs). Virtually perfect 2002 Tii and many other nice cars were there.

The Cinci group has more people than Columbus. There were about 60 people there. Good time and nice people!

It was nice meeting you and talking with you Renee. It was a good time last night even with the rain. The guy in the Z4 that left the top down, said the car was dry when he went to leave. I was surprised. Hope the ride home was not to bad for you last night. There was a lot of friendly people there, made it easy for a first timer. Looks like I will be becoming much more involved in the community. Thanks for passing the information along for the event Renee. To everyone that I met last night that is on this Forum, It was nice meeting you. Have a good one.

They have monthly meetings, I am not sure if they are all like the one we had last night. I think last night was a once a year event. But the monthly meeting will be something I start attending as well. As I know I will be sure to post on-line to help everyone out. Also from what I hear if you become a member of BMW CCA and you get registered with the local Buckeye chapter you will get email to update you on the events. Well Have a good one.

DJ,

Nice meeting you too! In case anyone is wondering about DJ and his screen name. No - he did not roll up with gold spinner wheels wearing a white suit and a big gold chains. ;) (There is a story behind the screen name). HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Everyone was very nice! They provided great food, beer and wine. This particular meeting is only once a year. They have some other fun events in the works, but I do not have confirmation yet.

The rain during the event was not bad. One short down pour and we were inside when it happened. As soon as Randy and I got to Eden park at 4:00 it was raining and we had rain driving back. (S03s are great in the rain!!)

John was impressed that I rounded up so many people. :)

Sorry about the wheel! Damage is the downside to running 19" wheels and low profile tires. Are they 30 or 35 series tires?

Hey Renee/Randy, when you pulled over there getting on the on-ramp, was there a prob? I stopped but couldn't exactly get out and ask what was up given how many cars were flying by. :D

Also, I meant to ask you about your wheels Renee. That isn't chrome-shadow finish, did you have that done aftermarket or is that OEM? I've never seen BMW wheels like that before.

You have another car to drive right now Randy?

Renee has had her wheels refinished - but I can get the same look on my Coupe in about 4 days of driving if I just don't clean the brake dust off? Not sure why Renee would spend the money to make the brake dust affect permanent? :dunno :dunno

Doug,

Nice meeting you in Cinci! It did not happen when we were leaving, already saw the bend at Just BMW.

When I bought my car last year, the wheels had a lot of road rash and the tires were 90% worn. After debating on new wheels/tires, I found a local guy was selling his wheels dirt cheap. I bought his set and had them repaired and refinished.

Neither the Satin or Shadow finish can be duplicated in the US due to high lead content in the paint. The option is to go lighter or darker. I decided to go darker for a different effect. (There are a few guys out here with M Coupes and dark wheels). This color does a good job of masking brake dust. :12:

Mike,

Are you going to Mid Ohio this weekend? I will drive up one of the days, but not hitting the track. When will you get your car on the dyno?? :D

Well, this morning when my wife went outside to drive to work...she discovered that our car was stolen. Now at least it wasn't our new BMW...but it was my first car...A forest green 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4. If anyone is in the Cincinnati Area and sees it, please call the cops! Nothing in the car was irreplaceable...but I did have about $1000 of stereo equipment in there.

STOLEN sometime between 10:00pm May 19 and 8:00am May 20 from the parking lot behind our apartment.
