I am curious what is the most expensive modification you have in your E31. I would love your thoughts on it, and if you could do it again, you would. Thanks! This should be an interesting thread.

This should be an interesting thread. sama 02-21-2008, 08:31 AM by far not the most expensive mod possible, but certainly the most expensive mod I have done in my car so far. It involved overhauling the entire braking system. http://www.imprint-aa.com/sama/850csi/brakes/mlogo.jpg http://www.imprint-aa.com/sama/850csi/brakes/rear.jpg http://www.imprint-aa.com/sama/850csi/brakes/callipers.JPG See brakes link in my sig for more info rcrad6653 02-21-2008, 08:49 AM Mine is the conversion to manual transmission. I'm in too deep to turn back, and no regrets regardless. On track for $6.5k before electronics and misc. portions farmed out. Mainly me turning wrenches and that labor cost isn't relevant to me. Repeating this process is speculative at this point but I plan to say yes. 8eights 02-21-2008, 10:51 AM No, I would not do it again! 50HP=3K sama 02-21-2008, 11:09 AM yes I would do it again (forgot!) as feels good to know brakes are 100%! Auraraptor 02-21-2008, 12:12 PM No, I would not do it again! 50HP=3K chip? Koizumi 02-21-2008, 01:42 PM Will be the Vortech S/C :D 8eights 02-21-2008, 02:08 PM chip?No chip produces 50Hp! I did Schrick cams, Port and polish, Valves, Extrude & honed runners, 3 series mafs. tread72 02-21-2008, 02:48 PM Sama cant wait to see your twin Supercharger set up. I have a Vortech V-1 laying around the garage, I wonder how your going to make the mounting brackets and what type of charger are you using? Auraraptor 02-21-2008, 03:24 PM No, I would not do it again! 50HP=3K No chip produces 50Hp! I did Schrick cams, Port and polish, Valves, Extrude & honed runners, 3 series mafs. The caveat being one is discussing a N/A cars. How and why did you select the MAFs? I wonder if there is a swapable upgrade for my M73... 8eights 02-21-2008, 04:01 PM I needed more air flow for the amout of fuel i can now dump, They were also bored another 3mm. sama 02-21-2008, 06:45 PM @ Tread, the supercharger project is still on my mind, but has taken a serious backburner post. I'm getting married soon and my costs/priorities have taken a sharp change of direction :) and :( for marriage and car respectively. I'm not someone that knows lots about this stuff in any case, and it would certainly be taken to someone that knows what they're doing for the job. Though, I'm eager to learn - which of course comes at a price. Gerry from Pheonix motorsports is making an SC kit for the CSi. It's not a twin setup but he's expecting around 600BHP. You can follow progress on roadfly and club31. I'm keeping a close eye on his work. tread72 02-21-2008, 06:53 PM Sama Congrats on the marriage, I have been married 6 years, only advise I can give you is this, if you don't have any hobbies now, your wife will find some for you. :cool sama 02-21-2008, 07:28 PM lol! you never know, she might get into it too! I've already brain washed her with my constant 8 and BMW waffle. I always know she doesn't' give a damn, but I just can't help myself Ahmed303 02-21-2008, 09:09 PM My 6L and 6 speed conversion. Not to mention the Euro CSi Brake set like Sama, Euro headlights, K-bars, Strong Strut and the Stereo system. RANE2001 02-22-2008, 02:01 AM Don't know where to start sama 02-22-2008, 04:11 AM lol Rane! you got any close up pics anywhere? Give her what she wants now and more, and she'll ease up on your "Other Woman". My most expensive mod so far is turning out to be the wheels. sama 02-22-2008, 01:04 PM haha, so funny you say that. she already knows who my "other baby" is. I guess we all see it the same way Darrenbt 02-22-2008, 08:36 PM lol! you never know, she might get into it too! I've already brain washed her with my constant 8 and BMW waffle. I always know she doesn't' give a damn, but I just can't help myself My fiance would totally agree with this. I'll start on something, she looks at me :mad just hoping that I won't explain it, but it's too late, I just have to explain why I NEED this part/that car... '08 STI is safer (AWD), more reliable, better in the winter and can fit baby seats in the hatchback... That's why I need 47k for a new one.... sama 02-22-2008, 10:14 PM :D so much to look forward to... |
