I'm planning on driving up from Columbus, on eather Thursday or Friday, to the event. If anyone wants to drive up there with me, or meet me there, let me know.

It goes from the 23-25 of May. I just want to go see some BMW Racecars in Action:D

I will be at the driving school that weekend as well, let's hope the weather cooperates.

The racing is usually pretty good at Mid-Ohio since the track attracts a lot of good racers.

Rich

Rich, what day is the best day to come to watch? Is friday the final most competitive day?

rdorffer
04-28-2003, 08:58 AM
Actually, Friday is an open lapping day available to instructors and racers IIRC. Racing will occur in the afternoon of Saturday and Sundy. I don't know the exact schedule but if I find out something, I will let you know.

Regards,

Rich

Rich, let me know the times, I would love to go see them. If anyone wants to drive up with me, let me know, I'll be leaving from Columbus on Sat. to go up there, and on Sunday I'll be leaving from Sandusky. So if anyone is in eather area at the time maybe we can get some BM's together to go up there.

BTW Rich, thanks for the Info.

Sunday is my plan too Renee...Hey there nrvous, when ever I go to a CCA school I stay at the Hampton Inn. It is about 6 or 7 miles from the track. Restaurants all around etc. A nice easy drive. I see yo have 4 points in. Have been to track events before and have you driven on the Mid-Ohio track before? Check your PM.

nah the harnesses are for autocross. i play with Neohio-SCCA and ASCC. i probably won't use them at the track because i don't have a rollbar or cage.

It was nice meeting you Rich, John and Natalie. :)

Andre,
I enjoyed hanging out with you! Thanks for the hook up with Dwight! I enjoyed the ride on the track. He is fast!!

jblack
05-28-2003, 03:11 PM
No problem..she didn't mind, but she was worried about the rain - Hoosiers in the rain will make anyone's butt pucker!

FYI - she put that car into a tire wall at Nelson a few years ago, so she gets all nervous when it begins to rain - on street tires. She was just re-living her personal history. BTW - $4500 in sheet metal damage, and bent (yes bent) the frame on the passenger seat. That is a hard bump. Insurance covered everything but the deductible. Nationwide was on her side ;)

John you're killin' me...trying to get me to track the beast eh?

You loaned out the Hoosy-eh's? Wow, I thought those things were more valuable to you than a first-born child. Not that any of use would give up cars for kids ;)

jblack
05-29-2003, 09:27 AM
No...no!

I loaned out S03's - Natalie was running the Hoosiers, I was running the Pilot Sports. We drove down on the S03's, and had them around if it rained.

And the kid comment is true!

All I want to know is who was the guy running in the first Endro in the Black E36 M3 with the motorsports flag on it.......He was haul'n some serious azz!! I was just blown away, I think he lapped everyone twice! Also those Z4 Roadsters from TC were incredable! I loved the look of them soo much. I need to get some pics up that I took this weekend

Jblack, how much is it to get into the drivers school? What days does it fall on? I was thinking about going to the one later this year at Mid-Ohio, but I just wanted to check with you about Nelsons.

jblack
05-29-2003, 04:29 PM
Nelson is a friggn' bargain - $200 for a 2 day school for the HPDE (High Performance Driving Education). There is also a BMWCCA Club Racing School for $500 for the 2 days. You had better be a strong B or A student to consider that - it is prep for the club racing license.

That is the pricing for the Northern Ohio Chapter - BMWCCA. There are 2 more BMWCCA schools this year at Mid-Ohio, but they are Buckeye Chapter - BMWCCA. Check with them for pricing ( www.buckeyebmwcca.org ). If you are interested in the Nelson School, e-mail me at membership@nohiobmwcca.org for an application.

That was from the Perfomance Center in Spartanburg, SC. We did Performance Center Delivery - and I would highly recommend it to all - plus we had half of the 1200 mile break in done on the way home!

The baby was ours for about 10 minutes when we took that picture. Still brings a tear to my eye....

The Ohio Dragon is a poor representation of the real "Dragon" near Alcoa, TN - we take it on the way to Z3 Homecoming every year. Something like 200 turns in 11 miles.....way fun!

Here is all the info you need to attend the Ohio Dragon Run - it's open to all BMW's (and non-BMW cars with BMW-like attitude).

Greetings to the Northern Ohio Z Series Enthusiasts and Special Friends!

Get those magnificent driving machines ready for a great day of driving. Jeff and Kim Ball are leading us thru the Ohio Dragon on Saturday, June 14! You don't want to miss this one. Here's Kim's description of the day:

The drive begins at the Einstein Bagels and Starbucks location in front of "The Strip" in North Canton. This is located on Rt. 77, one exit south of the Akron-Canton Airport. The drive leaves promptly at 9:30. Please have a full tank of gas and a full belly.

We will drive the infamous "Ohio Dragon", better known to the locals as Rt. 26 in Southeast Ohio. Lunch will be in Marietta at the Levee House Cafe which is nestled quietly on the Ohio River. A limited menu will be available for our group, mainly salads, burgers, sandwich platters, and pasta dishes. If you're joining us for lunch, please RSVP by email to Jeff at JEFFBALL880@netscape.net by Wednesday evening, June 11.

The drive returns to Northeast Ohio via the winding, scenic roads of South Central Ohio and ends at a location where you can dine-N-dash or just dash. We plan to be in Strasburg (north of Dover) around 5:00pm.

This will be an all-day trip if you choose to remain on the drive for all the twisty roads. Alternate return options would be to leave Marietta and take Rt. 77 north, or drive the twisties to Rt. 70, then catch Rt. 77 North.

And now the boiler plate for the Ohio Dragon Drive. Please join us for all day or just the part that's convenient for you. Bring along all the Zs and like-minded enthusiasts that you can find. Dress appropriately for the temperature because we drive regardless of weather. Don't forget sunscreen and sun glasses if it's bright. Have a full tank of gas to start the drive. Bring your Talkabouts tuned to channel 7,0. Be sure the camera has batteries or film.

Remember your tank-of-gas donation for charity. Your Make-A-Wish donations now total $1400 in 2003 and $2969 overall!

In your spare time, do visit our website at zbimmers.org, developed by Kim Ball. It's really outstanding and very informative. We're fortunate that such talented folks also like to drive Zs!

Email your RSVPs to Jeff and then start focusing on good weather to help the Weathermeister deliver lots of sunshine and high temperatures. You know how those roadsters just love going topless.

Looking forward to driving a few miles with everyone on the 14th!
Cindy

Don't sweat it...it's not like a mini-cannonball, you drive however you want. Last year a couple had an infant in the back seat of an E30 325i, just show up and enjoy the ride.

This road was freakin' insane, once or twice I thought my number was up-- I got some pics, but I have to take them off the camera and knock down the resolution.

If you go to http://www.nohiobmwcca.org/ you can check out the calendar and get the nitty-gritty on the chapter.
