Hi Forum,
yesterday I finally figured out how to mod my splash screen and came across a post on X5 were someone described a POI search on MK4s.
I would like to know if there is a quick way to find a place without having to know where it is in the first place. I am running the V28.1 SW version on my MK3 widescreen.

So for example: I have the name of a restaurant here in San Diego and I want to get there. Howe do I do that?

Well... I"m not sure if this is what you mean, but I have the MK3 and the BT with voice recognition. If I push the button on the steering wheel to activate voice command, I simply say "restaurant" and it brings up a list I can view. Not sure how far away it scans for them. But then I simply scroll to the one I want and hit enter. This also works for hotels and gas stations. Although I have to say "petro" station as I got my MK3 from europe :) I have a pleasant british woman giving me nav directions also :)

ooh this sounds so kinky and intriguing. do u mined if i asked her name. i would sure like to program her into my fanta oooppps i mean navi system. lol:rolleyes

Thanks Boater. To be a bit more clear. I'd like to be able to enter the name of a restaurant prefereable without having to go to deep into the nav tree where I firs have to choose location or destination, then the category, then the subcategory and then being presented with all choices within an undetermined and fixed radius.
Perfect would be if when pressing the GPS button one would be presented with a POI icon which in turns allows entry on a name like 'EXXON', Ruth Chris', McDonald's', 'Starbucks', 'City Hall',....
