View Full Version : i knew is300's were slow, but i had to see for myself.
MonsterM3 02-18-2008, 11:09 PM so i was driving to Norfolk last night at about 2 a.m. on the highway when an is300 drives up beside me. there was nobody else on the road so i was guessing he wanted to go for a run. i looked over and could see he was looking at me, so i decided what the hell, ive never raced one before so ill go for it.
i dropped it in 3rd at about 65mph and gave the 3 honks.
i already knew the outcome so i let him get the jump and then i mashed it. i pulled about 2 cars at the end of 3rd and shutdown after i pulled about 4-5 cars in 4th.
i rolled my window down to give him a thumbs up as he gave me a flyby.:buttrock
ohlins8990 02-18-2008, 11:13 PM Scary to think they just have the NA version of the godly 2jz twin turbo isnt it.
vibes 02-18-2008, 11:14 PM Good race, good attitude ;)
Funny I got my butt handed to me by a turboed is300 a few days ago, didn't know what hit me till I found out he had a turbo putting down 400whp.
PointMEby 02-18-2008, 11:18 PM Yes very true. My cousins is somewhat fast though...Its got full 3", Mizzuri (SP)? long tubes, SRT intake, flywheel/clutch and limited slip. It hangs with stock M3's...
OMGWTFBODY 02-19-2008, 01:48 AM Gee, all the ones I see around here aren't too shabby.
SpunkyE30nOk 02-19-2008, 12:06 PM I haven't had the chance to come across an IS300 on the streets but i've auto-x against a few diff ones both manual and auto...the e30 is always a good 1 or 2 faster :buttrock
virginia beach? i was there last year in august? funny fun, especially followin' all these bikers (cousin and his friends) in my e36. yeah i might be goin' up there again this year to visit my cousin at the base in yorktown.
cky751 02-21-2008, 01:31 AM lol! nice kill, sounds like the time I killed an is300.
umcool911ok 02-21-2008, 01:43 AM There is at least 6 or more Turboed IS300's around TN.
I was watching one walk an E39 M5, Z4 M coupe, and E92 335i
early in January.

WOW, so your cousin kept it N/A, huh? it seems the majority of enthusiasts who own IS300's want to turbo the stock motor or swap in a true 2JZ-GTE. props to your cousin for having a quick N/A IS300. :)
my little sis just dropped her red IS300 on Tein SS coilovers and Work Emotions in bronze...but she's all show no go :(...i'm not sure what she has planned for "go fast" mods...i just told her not to tangle with e36 M3's :D

Its the 2JZ-GE I believe. The supra turbo had a 2JZ-GTE.
There are a bunch of turbo IS300's running around this area and some of them have 2JZ-GTE swaps and big turbos. There are some SC's with the swap as well.
giterdone 02-21-2008, 04:20 PM Was it a full on ricer flyby? or was he cool about it to, and was just continuing on his way afterward?

it was a full on ricer flyby. i didnt see him brake until he was wayyyy ahead of me. i guess he had a point to prove :dunno
MonsterM3 02-21-2008, 07:51 PM most of the is300's ive seen around here are either stock or riced out. ive only seen 1 or 2 decently modded N/A's. i wouldnt mind coming across a turboed one and getting my ass handed to me though.:D
