Is there a place you can rent karts and gear in DFW? I don't mean the ones from Speedzone where you can run faster than the karts.

I'd like to know the same too...I don't think there is a well-known place in all of DFW.

These guys http://www.ntkarters.com/ have a 'school' where you can just show up, but it isn't cheap. It's not clear if you can rent karts outside of the school. I've been too lazy to call.
