Hi everyone, this is my first attempt to post something. I have a 2000 Z3 and I am getting an intermittent warning light. Its a 1/4 inch circle with what looks like gear teeth around the outside of the circle and an exclamation mark (!) inside the circle. Does anyone know what it is? I'm the 2nd owner and the car has 50,000 miles on it.

is it red? If so it sounds like the worn brake lining light. Although I am not sure about the intermitten part.

check your passenger side blinker fluid tank, probably over filled.

I have a Z3 shifter in my 323 and it works great, I guess that is as close to the Z3 as I get, but as others have said that is the brake pad light, I would check your brake pads and make sure they are good, and then you can always replace the sensor if it's just bad.
read your bmw owners manual and post in the right section.
